I've been made offers by both dealerships today.... both offers about the same... both have a great work enviroment... I just can't decide what company I'd rather work for.... what do you guys think?
WAHT? Dood, it worky like this:96greencivic said:Hmmm, I'd say if it's that similar, go with the better working environment. Either way, you'd be working for a good company, but the local dealer may be significantly different. Also you can make a decision who offers the better benefit package. Not so much based on salary, but how much are your medical deductions, who has the medical plan you prefer, do they offer Profit Sharing? Employee stock purchase plan? Those items are very important when making that kind of decision.

lexus sales are a cake walk.... people walk in there have the cash and basically treat it like they're shopping at a grocery store.. honda buyers will be more fickle
I've worked in various Toyota dealerships for over a year now... and if it's one thing I've come to realize is, there are only two types of dealership customers... the idiots, and the picky ones... the idiots don't know any better. They have absolutely no clue where else the would go for service... the picky ones think that because they come to the dealership for service, their car should leave in 'like new' condition every time it comes in for work.Fawks said:Don't wanna be fixin' cars for teh picky-ass Lexus peoples.
a guy that worked with me at BB is workin for lexus as a technician. bout 80% of the lexus cars are basically simple corolla type jobs for the most part... pretty simple to work on, but like u said, they just pay more for the name.Killa_CiViC said:I've worked in various Toyota dealerships for over a year now... and if it's one thing I've come to realize is, there are only two types of dealership customers... the idiots, and the picky ones... the idiots don't know any better. Only difference between a picky lexus customer and a picky honda customer... one pays more than the other.
I'm leaning more towards lexus though, because I've had more extensive Toyota/Lexus training, so I'm already familiar with the product...
agreed. but you dont get paid more by how expensive the car is. i work for bmw and plenty of techs have left to go to toyota. just depends on the work available. at the honda dealer you may find more customer pay work which should pay more. where as at the lexus dealer it might just be all warranty work cause the folks can afford to trade in the car as soon as its out of warranty.such as the case at my dealership. all warranty and the customer pay goes out to the independents cause no one wants to pay our labor rate. just my 2 centsKilla_CiViC said:I've worked in various Toyota dealerships for over a year now... and if it's one thing I've come to realize is, there are only two types of dealership customers... the idiots, and the picky ones... the idiots don't know any better. Both places are in Dallas, Tx... the Honda dealership is in a very busy part of town, and the lexus dealership is in a very RICH and busy part of town... neither places have a shortage of business.doug piston said:agreed. but you dont get paid more by how expensive the car is. i work for bmw and plenty of techs have left to go to toyota. just depends on the work available. at the honda dealer you may find more customer pay work which should pay more. where as at the lexus dealer it might just be all warranty work cause the folks can afford to trade in the car as soon as its out of warranty.such as the case at my dealership. all warranty and the customer pay goes out to the independents cause no one wants to pay our labor rate. just my 2 cents
That's exactly what I would be doing... but every dealership requires some kind of specialty training... I've been working for Toyota... I've been to all the Toyota training classes, and am Toyota Mastered.... Well, that doesn't count for Lexus, so I'd have to go to Lexus training classes and get Lexus mastered... same would be the case for Honda........... but the bottom line for all of them is, it's all basically the same stuff... some have more goodies than others, but there are not too many different ways you can build a car... once you understand the way the basic systems for all of them work, moving between brands is not that hard.anfrey said:but chances are you're not doing service, as it requires SAE and official honda technician training.
