to start off....im looking for added security. the more and more i hear about hondas getting stolen especially here around orlando, i feel like i need more than my viper alarm and fuel cutoff switch.

with that said im leaning towards a removable steering wheel...good option no? if you have a better idea, please tell.

however i have no clue about this stuff, other than the wheel itself. i see quick release hubs, short hub adaptors, and quick release locks. so, fill me in on what i need before i dive into what could be a fairly costly mod.

heres what im seeing so far:

NRG short hub adaptor (jdmcarboy) $100
http://www.jdmcarboy.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1388_1034&products_id=801

NRG V2 quick release (jdmcarboy) $90
http://www.jdmcarboy.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1388_1034&products_id=602

JSR quick release hub (jdmshit) $95shipped
http://www.jdmshit.com/parts/interior/release.jpg

do i need a "quick release"? or a "short hub adaptor"? or both? what????

heres the steering wheel im currently interested in from jdmcarboy

i believe the simples u can go is
1. hub + wheel
2. hub + quick release + wheel
3. hub + quick release + lock + wheel

1 being the minimum u need. i think i am right but i am sure someone will correct me if i am not. i want one of these setups 2 but i worry about airbag not being there. the good thing is that once u do this...u can get some money by selling ure airbags and then u can put in a CF airbag delete tray which looks pimps. no use in keeping the pass bag if u took out the drivers since it wont work.

i beleive all you need is a wheel, hub adapter and a quick release. i think the "short hub" adapters are for using a quick release so the steering wheel isn't right up in your face.

astheros - the hub adaptor is so that you can use an aftermarket wheel, correct? therefor if i got a hub and wheel, it wouldnt be removable, right?

basically the hub does the same FUNCTION as a short hub...but i still need a quick release to make the wheel removable. so im looking at roughly 100 for the hub, 100 for the quick release and then a wheel on top of it all? seems pretty pricey :S

im not concerned so much about the locks, especially since they are an extra $130!

hub is so u can use aftermarket yes. i dont believe hub/wheel is removable. quick release will make it removable. hence the 'release'

a hub/short hub are the same things but the short hub is shorter so it helps u maintain factory distance to your body. so yeah youre looking at like 300 or so if youre buying everything new. check weksos or some site sponsors...sometimes they have sales on kits.

what if i were to use ITR wheel....would i still need a hub since its not aftermarket? then just use the itr wheel and a quick release? idk if that will work? or will i need the hub?

http://www.hmotorsonline.com/shop/sc2000search.cgi?what=page&item=20010

so many questions
i believe the ITR wheel would be a bolt on but without air bag? i dont think it would require a quick release. no car came with factory quick release so if this is genuine i would assume its a bolt on non-srs wheel.

ok.

about the itr wheel....what i was asking is, could i use a quick release with it on the stock hub so that the itr wheel is removable.....?

hell, for the prices i might just have to turn to ebay for this one....with that said, here is what ive found on there:

hub and wheel $50
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/JDM-MUG-STEERING-WHEEL-HUB-for-94-01-ACURA-INTEGRA_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem270200270902QQitemZ270200270902

"short quick release hub" ??? $32
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/STEERING-WHEEL-SHORT-QUICK-RELEASE-HUB-for-INTEGRA-RSX_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem230209412153QQitemZ230209412153

between those two links, is that everything i would need....hub, release, wheel? if so, i think i may just go with this setup for the time being

If you do go this route (no airbags), id definetly recommend a harness bar, harnesses and some seats that are compatible to harnesses.

IMO, it's either you leave the interior alone or you go "full race". It'd be pointless to have airbags / harnesses and it'd be stupid to have no airbags / no harnesses.

EDIT: you might already have everything that I said above, I just felt like mentioning it incase you don't.

sorry im just easily confused on this topic
i wouldnt buy cheap s**t for these type of parts.
1. they are directly part of your driving and u dont want your wheeling falling off.
2. they will be used constantly which means u want something built to last. bearings, etc.

the case of airbags is debatable. but i would still agree with evan...hence why i havent done it in my car.
maybe u can sell your airbags for enough to get enough for some nrg ctr replicas and then u can get harness bars and harnesses but then youre looking at a lot of money.

and no...i dont believe u could use a hub with the itr wheel.

IMO, if money is an issue, than leave the airbags.

So maybe you don't have the detachable wheel security factor, but i'd much rather have my car stolen than my face smashed into a windshield.

money is an issue to him and i figured those were the most affordable quality seats with the harness slots.
well the whole reason i wanted to do the removable wheel is for added security, not the aspect of safety...its not something that im trying to right now....i just wanna finish my turbo build and make sure my car doesnt get jacked, not trying to get seats and a harness bar right yet.

I think ef's didn't have them because the technology wasn't there yet. Anyways, it's ultimately up to you, just IMO for added security i'd go a different route.
