i'm installing my amps. is it necessary to run new wires from amps to speaker? or i can just use existing wires from the head unit? if it's okay to use the existing wires from head unit, what size should i get?

The stock wires are s**t, only like 18 g i think. Go to bestbuy and get 16g. I'm doing the same thing my amp comes this week. How are you going to get that wire through the snake in the front doors?

So you want to pull out all the stock wiring and re-use it? Just use new better wiring. It'll be a lot easier.

that's exactly my concern. i don't feel like removing my fender and snaking the wires using that rubber thing, but i guess i have to since it's the only way to do it.

i'm planning to mount this amp either below the driver's seat or behind the backseat (trunk area). i have problems with both of them, the problem with under seat is I don't want my friends in the backseat kicking on it with their dirty shoes. but if i put it on the trunk, my trunk is leaking water a little (only few drops, occur near passenger side taillight), so the moisture level should be high and i don't my amp to rust. any suggestion on where is the best place to put them?

does anyone have info on how to remove fender?

not really, i'm thinking about running the wires from amp to head unit, then connect it to existing wire that connects to my current speakers.

i first mounted mine on the side of the trunk and now im mounting it in the wheel well. I mad a custom box and floor so that i can access my tire and have a nice subbox in the trunk :] Both amps are going under that false bottom w/ plexi over it. My suggestiion for you would be mount it on the side upright, lots of ventilation and tucked away from the seams of the trunk just in case of small leaks.

You dont have to remove your fender, you should be able to do it just by taking an interior panel off.

Do you ahve to take the door panel off? Or can you just use a coat hanger to feed it from under the dash through the snake to the speaker opening?

correct by the door bottom floor. remove them panels and you should see the plastic tube that connects to the door. stick the wire cables into the hole into the doors...you should see it and i highly recommend better wires, because its for the sound and quality. (that is the main reason of all this after market stuff anyways). "once you do it, do it properly or you will have to redo and sometimes it cost more to fix than just getting the right item, the first time".

well yea, i'm leaning towards running new wires too, from now on, i want to get everything done properly. i'm getting 16 gauge speaker wires and remote wire, 4/8 gauge power and ground cables. how's that setup sounds?

also, how long should i get the speaker wire, power cable, and remote wire if i mount my amps on the trunk? where would be the best place to ground the amps?

grounding the amps would best be anything...i did mines at my shocks in my trunk.. the two bolt that hold my shock inside my trunk. speaker wires...just get at least 13-15 feet for speakers, and for subs get at lease 8 gauge wires. the power and ground should be at lease 4 gauge..ground should be bigger because it gives more power to the amps, and get a better batter like the D51 optima yellow top battery. its deep cycle...

arent you just going to get a wiring kit? they have everything the rockford fosgate ones have like 40ft of speaker wire which should be plenty and plenty of length for the power, ground, and remotes. Um I grounded mine to the tail light but any bolt will do as long as its got a clean contact to bare metal. If you have to just drill a hole in your wheel well and put a bolt there to be the ground.

i ran my wires through the middle of my car. it was all not that big of a deal. you should get a combo distribution block from directed or streetwires..i got mines from street wires like 4 years ago for $100.00. yeah good deal for it though in those days...now it be like 80 bucks....let see if i can find pics.

I don't think he needs a huge distribution block like that....I don't think he plans on running that much power. I'm telling ya man RF kit w/ power and ground distribution blocks, fuses, RCA's, speaker wire, connectors, power and ground wire, remote wire, totally worth it and good quality. Not a bank buster.

i depends how much he wants to run....if i was to buy amps i would buy sundown amps...they are the best i heard.

www.sundownaudio.com take a look...
they are underrated amps.... like the 1500d...it was benched at at least 2300 at 1 ohm, 1000d at lease 1300 at 2 ohm, the multichannel they have can even take subs and mids and high without an problem. they are good for sq setups. they are pricey though.

yea, i'll get one of those optima yellow top battery eventually once this one ran out of power. but now, i'd rather invest my limited budget for decent wire setup.

umm, i don't have any subwoofer system, and never been a fan of subwoofer. i'm just trying to power my speakers with amplifiers.

how can i get one of those rockford kit? that would make my life easier, monster and tsunami doesn't seem to have amp wiring kit, only stinger has amp wiring kit. rockford makes stuff as good as monster.

i'm not a big fan of drilling a hole in my car, so is there anywhere close that i can mount the grounds other than suspension? i know the bolt on the suspension is a b***h to remove.

what's that distribution block for? someone explained to me before but i forgot the purpose of getting that thing.

I ran the amp power wire down the drivers side and all the speaker wire down the passenger side of the car.
isn't the battery located on the passenger side?

EDIT: FYI: just for reference, the amp i have right now is Alpine MRP-F450, rated 70rms x 4 at 2 ohms. i'm trying to power my cheap pioneer speakers (exact specs on my garage link thing) which eventually will be replaced by Boston Acoustics component and Infinity Reference rears.

also, the amp recommends 8 gauge power cables, is it okay to go higher than that?

cool. not all people like subs. they like the harsh twikking. distribution block is the block made to split power...like for your power wire it connects into the distribution block input and out the output into 10-8 gauge wires, which you can hook up to how many output an distribution block has into the amps, equalizers, and crossover. depending how you want it. the ground goes the same. (the power has fuses to protect your amps from blowing.

so if im getting a component speakers in the future, do i need one of these to power the crossovers later on?

this distribution block thing can also be used as ground?
