yeah i have a b18b motor all stock but im looking to boost. wuts the max boost and the safe boost you can have on the motor. im looking for a reliable 10 psi. if i have to throw down some cash what would be the most important parts to buy first and whats the going rate to micro polish a crand and maybe bore out my cylinders .5 over.

dude get a block guard and arp studs with a better head gasket and that LS would run like a champ with stock internals!

+1 you can handle 270 whp safely and drive it everyday. the most important thing is finding a good tuner in your area.

how many miles are on your motor and what is the compression at? if your compression is low dont boost it.

Don't get a blockguard. They cause cooling problems and you hear negative comments about them all the time. I've looked into it, just try Honda-Tech, no one likes them.

I'm doing the exact same thing as you, boosting a stock ls. I'm putting a new headgasket in and while I'm down there, ARP headstuds as well. You can run 10psi, but that's the max I'd go. Get a good tuner, and it will be a reliable 250whp, but I wouldn't go more than that if you want it to run for super long, although people have ran 300whp ls motors for years on stock internals.

Don't bore it out, there's no need. Remember intake/exhaust plays a big factor in turbo too. Get a skunk2 Intake manifold and either a 2.5 or 3 inch exhaust. That will increase your flow so there's no backpressure, making more power as well as being more reliable.

^right, porting and polishing the head would also do you good for more better airflow, and increase in power ;)

OEM HG here made 613whp. i dont think there is a better one available. the stock one is a metal layered gasket from the factory there is no need to replace it. same thing goes for the head studs and block gaurd unnecessary. not that i suggest it but weve made over 400whp with a stock b16, stock bolts, and on top of that the customer had reused them after pulling the head off. if the head is off used arp's but i wouldnt put them in there just to put them in there. b series motors dont have head lift issues.

Yeah, but PnP a ls head? In my opinion it's not really worth it, you might as well through a b16 head on there. For non-Vtec heads, I draw my line at turbo cams. Once you do valvetrain, PnP it just adds up, and doesn't do near as much as it would on a Vtec head.

^true, but it does make a difference with bigger ports.

yeah well my motors not completly stock i do have arp studs and a rebuilt motor with prolli around 30k on the rings and 2k on the bearings and head gasket. i have a full turbo with dsm 450's and an inline walbro. its street tune on uberdata but i fhkin spun a bearing which caused knocks in my engine. relli i just want the most bang for my buck and iono if pistons and rods r worth it if i only wanna boost around 10psi. im definatly gonna get a good tune i have a pretty good shop ab'oout 10 miles from my house so yeah. i live in east contra costa county CA so tunings not realli a problem. but yeah i think i scored my crank when my bearing fuked up so i was wondering if i am going to have to micro polish that s**t?

There's no point to do anything to your crank. If it's unbalanced, then yeah, get it balanced. But getting it micropolished blah blah serves no purpose. People run 400whp fully built turbo motors with stock cranks. I mean, it doesn't hurt, but you only need to work on your crank if you're looking for 400+

ive got a book on turbocharging honda engines at home and it says you dont really need to have it micropolished as long as its balanced.

There you go, you got it. Now if you want 400whp or more, I would maybe go with a Golden Eagle crank, or something a bit stronger. Might as well try the stock one, just make sure it's balanced.

the honda crank is forged from the factory and as strong as if not stronger from what ive seen than any other aftermarket crankshaft.

You get them micropolished to get the bad scratches out left by the old rod bearings.

WOW there is a lot of miss information.
Make sure your motor is healthy.

Then on to your fuel!!!
Get a bigger pump, FPR, and fuel rail, bigger injectors and a nice tune.

Then go to your ignition. Better wires and ect.

Then go with the Skunk2 intake, Bigger TB.

Stay at a safe 10psi at the most and no more!!!
Remember the LS does not like the 8,000 rpm shifts so keep the rev limiter in there or you can start spinning bearings.

Don't open the motor unless you have to. Everything in there is as Honda made it so leave it alone. You blow it up then fine state replacing the internals.

Good luck.
:D
