good advice, im always down for mini vacations. Just sucks that I can't truly look at the car until Im out there, pictures, etc only do so much.

i called the subaru dealership there and had the seller take the car to them to have it inspected. i offered to pay for the whole inspection, but the seller said he'd split the cost with me as long as he'd be allowed to have a copy of the report, as well as being present for the driving inspection. no problem. i think this is the best way to have the car checked out remotely. yes, pictures only do so much, so you want to build a good relationship with the seller and make sure it's a good person.

i got very lucky. the guy that owned the wrx before me was a corporate insurance guy in his late 40s or early 50s, who was moving up to a porsche cayman. the wrx was unmodified, except for a muffler, some better grounding for the headlights, etc. i could tell this guy treated the car well by the inspection report as well as the way he drove it when he picked me up from the airport. also, he had commented to me about having done the 3-day skip barber course.

wow...if only he was selling another one. Yeh I've talked to a fair amount of sellers and its hit or miss on the phone. Sometimes they seem legit and others will barely give me the time of day. Good advice tho, I'll keep this in mind!! There is a 0% chance that I don't get one...its just taking longer than anticipated.
