anyone know anything about replacing bulbs and color wheels in rear projection tvs...theres a 61" Samsung I really wanna get but it needs a new color wheel. The DIYs ive seen online dont seem that hard but just wondering...

I wouldn't touch it, just find a decent 42in LCD.............my 0.02 dollars

wooo hoo.. i just found me a momo shift knob. here at work i was looking through some boxes trying to find software and in a ziplock bag i found a what looks to be stainless steel heavy shift knob. lol. this is pretty much the highlight of my work day . lol

I wouldn't touch it, just find a decent 42in LCD.............my 0.02 dollars

its for downstairs and i have two options: A. buy a new bulb for my projector B. buy a rear projection for around the same price as a the bulb and spend the additional 100-200 to get a new bulb/colorwheel.

cant justify spending $1k+ on a new tv but can I justify spending an additional 100-200 to get a rear projection working...the one im looking at is only a few years old. It could definitely be a poor decision but i also could have a new tv for pretty cheap

If it were me i'd probably put that TV on craigs and save up for this

but I like quality over quantity (size) in this case

Also how long is this new bulb gonna last? The TV could have other issues too so it's risky...

^my projector is about 4 years old...right on the brink of being entirely outdated lol. Damn that sharp is amazing (good deal too) but we really need a big screen downstairs and i cant afford to spend a grand on a tv. If i had the time id go on swoopo and sit for a few days but theres a ton of good deals on CL right now for used rear projos that need new bulbs...hmm decisions decisions...

If all goes as anticipated I could buy that samsung for $200 and buy a new bulb for $130...cheeeap

My favorite weapons are the chainsaw, fire axe, and frying pan. It gets hard to see when theres a horde cuz of all the blood splatter on the screen from the close melee kills.

plus there are 5 avatar awards in there.
