well i dont usually throw stones but those hatches are ugly, but thats me and its your car. anyway u dont commonly get better Mpg with an up in HP. Intake will help a little on both, and with a good exhaust you could relize maybe +7 to 10 Hp. you could research ecu chiping but with the eco setting put into your ecu you will have no power and vise versa. anyway my 2cnts, hope it helped a little.

traditionally, u lose 5 mpg+ on turboed engines...
and either way, he wants better gas mileage and last time i checked losing 1 mpg was a decrease in mpg...

yeah that's true.
OP: Just leave it stock, you have the K20A3, the lowest grade of the K20's at only 160hp. Who knows, you might be able to re-sell it for more if it's stock.

i average 31-33mpg every tank and that includes stop-go traffic, highway, and occasional fully-spooled spirited driving

but yeah, i'm confused what the op wants to do with the k20.. ?

This is true, there's plenty of guys even with SUBARU's that have gotten better gas mileage while upgrading turbos and all that fun stuff. It's ALL IN THE TUNE; a tune would be the key to achieving more power and better gas mileage.

Who knows, you can have a super conservative tune that'll give you 50hp and 5mpg on top of what you already make, stock.
