Actually I am very good at telling 96-98 apart from 99-00. I know that the '00 headlights are more aerodynamic than the 96-98. The '00 upper grill is wider. 1. '00 has a place for foglights on the bumper. '00 taillights are red and white. etc. I, myself, own a '97 Civic.

What I was trying to say, is that 2. the 96-98 Civics are so well fixed up that they look like the 99-00 Civics. And in my opinion, these 99-00 Civics are the best looking Civics ever. So I meant that like a complement. And the first comment of mine was not intended for that particular Civic (i was still a noob at this site) which is why I clarified with the correct Civic (my second comment)
1. so does the 96-98 bumper

2. from the back yes, but definitively not from the front. they're noticeably different from the front.

To further clarify, this ^^ is the 96-98 (EJ6) Civic I was originally talking about, it looks as good as an EM1, In My Opinion
yes it's your opinion, but it looks nothing like a Em1 from the front. Again, from the back, Yes!, not the front.

You sure as hell sounded like you needed help in that other thread:
Does anyone have any pictures comparing all the differences on both cars (96-98 compared to 99-00)?
I'm looking for exterior cosmetic. Like a comparison of the front end, fenders, sides etc. Both pictures showing the same angle of either Civic.
I linked to my thread on Honda-Tech that goes over the differences after those posts.

You joined in August of this year. You've been here four months. You're still a noob now.

"Looks as good as" and "looks like" have two very different meanings. By the way, that's not an EJ6.

Oh, so its an EJ8? Because, THIS is where I get confused, the chassis codes. So a
96-98 Honda Civic Coupe would be an EJ8? Trim doesn't factor in right?

Does anyone have any pictures comparing all the differences on both cars (96-98 compared to 99-00)?
And about this^^, I just wanted to see and compare for myself the two different styles or models. Although I already knew the major differences.

And yes I might still be a noob now, but at the time I posted that other comment I was a super-noob.

"Looks as good as..." yes, that is what I meant.

1. so does the 96-98 bumper

2. from the back yes, but definitively not from the front. they're noticeably different from the front.
1. I meant the vents on the 99-00 bumpers. The 96-98 bumpers have the fog light vents integrated with the lower grill.

2. Yes I agree, but I meant to say, and I quote NOFX, that the 96-98 Civic Coupe (EJ8?) (I assume its that cuz its not an EJ6, apparently) "looks as good as" an EM1.

See, if only "looks as good as" was posted instead all of this probably would have been skipped. :P

You've still got chassis codes wrong too.

I'm confused, in the link you gave me^^, it says:

1996-2000 (6G) Civic Coupes

1996-2000 Civic DX coupe
Chassis Code: EJ6
Engine Code: D16Y7
Engine Type: 1.6L 16-valve SOHC non-VTEC I4
Horsepower: 106 hp @ 6200 rpm
Torque: 103 lb-ft @ 4600 rpm
Compression Ratio: 9.4:1

the EX coupe is EJ8 etc.

So wasn't I correct by calling that red 6G Civic an EJ6? How are you supposed to tell the trims apart?

I just jizzed.
Best looking EJ8 ever.
Thank you. ;)
Once again, thanks. You sure know a lot about the whole Civic scene. I'd like to see what your Civic looks like.
You're welcome and thank you. I just really like Hondas, '96-'00 Civics in particular.

You already saw my Civic btw. In fact, you quoted it earlier. The red Civic above is mine. My boyfriend took the pictures. His Flickr might have more.

Got any better pics?
Here's my 97 Coupe (EJ...6?) front end:
Id it's a DX coupe it's an EJ6. If it's an EX coupe it's an EJ8. If it's an HX coupe it's an EJ7.

As Hecz mentioned, the chassis code is your fourth, fifth and sixth digits of your VIN too.

No, you weren't correct.

For US coupes there's the DX, EX and HX, plus the '99-'00 Si.

The DX comes with a 1.6L SOHC non-VTEC engine (D16Y7) and therefore is an EJ6. The DX is the base version of the Civic coupe. It has manual locks and windows, doesn't come with A/C standard and has black unpainted trim.

The EX comes with a 1.6L SOHC VTEC engine (D16Y8) and therefore is an EJ8. The EX is the highest trim for '96-'98. It has power locks, power windows, standard A/C and P/S, painted door trim, painted mirrors, and a painted license plate garnish and a power moonroof.

The HX comes with a 1.6L SOHC VTEC-E engine (D16Y5) and therefore is an EJ7. The HX is the economy version of the Civic. It looks much like a DX from the exterior (black unpainted trim, no moonroof) but also comes standard with special alloy wheels unique to the HX.

The Si comes with a 1.6L DOHC VTEC engine (B16A2) and therefore is an EM1. The Si is the sport version of the Civic. It looks much like an EX from the exterior, but gets standard painted sideskirts, the front lip is standard (instead of optional like other trims), special alloy wheels unique to the Si and a mesh grille with a removable H. The Si also only comes in limited colors: blue, black and red. Blue is most common, having been half of the total fleet produced.

PLEASE go on Honda-Tech and look through the threads I created. I have all of this in a thread called Trim Differences. In fact, I think it's the first result if you Google "trim differences".

I took a look at it. I was wrong by calling that red coupe with the moonroof an EJ6, its an EJ8, according to what you said. But I got confused because I always called my DX coupe an EJ6. Now that you explained it, I confirmed that my 96-98 DX coupe is actually an EJ6
