Everytime you choose to boycott them you only hurt the store owner. Each one is a franchise. THey make more money off the stuff inside the store than they do the gas. SO remember Shane when you skip past a BP your actually hurting a local employee and store owner.

it's not that easy. they're locked into 10-15 year contracts with BP. hell, BP barely makes a meaningful percentage of their revenue in retail. most of the profits come from undersea exploration, oil extraction and refinement, etc. we're not hurting bp at all by boycotting their retail petrol sales. i feel really bad for all the franchisees right now. they're getting a raw deal. i wonder if they have grounds to sue bp for souring their franchised brand's reputation.
well i can't boycott em if I never used em to begin with. It's just a preferance, i'd rather "support" Shell or Mobile as before this fiasco I used anyways.

i wish there was an exxon/mobil here in town. they were my favorite petrol station back in chile. however, should they still be boycotted for the exxon valdez issue in the 80s?

Well the Valdez was a huge disaster in very shallow water. What I can blame BP for is 30 years past and they didn't put and R&D into technology to fix disasters and learn from Exons mistake they only researched how to drill deeper where it's much more dangerous and risky.
But I'm sure everyone is guilty of this but the spotlight is on BP, no use arguing but I don't see why you should "support" them if you have a choice.
