Thats not really true. I took mine to a shop before buying it, and have since put about $2500 into if for repairs, thats not even including maintenance.

I think you'd have to tear the motor apart, look inside the motor to see how beat it really is lol.

The red one was definitely beat on. Who is the owner? And throttle body spacer? Really? It was definitely beat on by someone who thinks every bolt on adds horsepower.

He's talking about the si's. If I were you i would just buy an older civic and invest money on building it up. That's what i'm doing. I bought a 2000 ex coupe. I'm 20 and I'm working a part time job while going to school. You can find a good one for around 4 to 5 grand somewhere I'm sure.

anybody agree with that dude ^ or should i ask a real mechanic?
I agree with him. Most people who install a throttle body spacer then take the car out to see how much the butt dyno tells them they gained. Go with a stock car, and also take it to a mechanic, you dont know what is worn down.

there is another... this guy who works at a dealer and its his personal car... stock black honda civic SI 2006 with 70k on it.. says he only uses it for gas.. he has a lexis. he ordered rims for it for $1300 and says he will knock the $1300 off of the total price he is asking which is $11,500... so i can get that black stock civic for little over 10k then...

he said it is perfect condition and i seen pics already.. i will get the pics monday.

You are SUPPOSED to take it to a mechanic before you hand money over, thats the whole point. If you give them the money, and then take it to a mechanic then it just defeats the purpose. Say "I want to take it to my mechanic to have it checked out first." If they say no, walk away and NEVER come back, no matter what kind of deal they offer.

Okay so this is my 2 cents... Your not listening to half of what everyone has said, only what you want to hear (Not being a jerk just trying to say LISTEN)

We were all 19 once or close to it, when I was 19 I wish I would of done a lot different....

Debt is a Bi*** and to be honest SUCKS, I am so sick of debt I could scream! Yea it is nice because I have credit but now I also have a Payment. My build for my Civic is on hold until I pay off my debt! You have 4grand? That's freaking awesome, and you can do a lot with it, but spend it wisely! Yes you can get a loan, but by the time your loan is paid off you will of paid 18-20k for it, so just bare that in mind.

As far as Insurance, I am sorry but whoever said that your dad has to be on the title is TOTAL BS, you do not HAVE to be on a title to be on the insurance policy! I used to be a broker for insurance and that is not true. Anyone that is a DRIVER of the vehicle can be on the insurance.... That is why they ask you, is there anyone in your home that is old enough to drive blah blah... They never ask "are they on the title" because you don't have to be.... Not bashing who said it, but point out facts....

I would go buy an older SI and pay cash, but that is me... I would KILL to be debt free! And for me, If I was going to go drop 12k on a car, I would get an EVO hands down but that is me again lol.....

So I say you should REALLLLLY re-consider this.... I mean you work at Staples which for your age is good, but man it's not like your gonna get a huge check so remember, after Gas, Insurance, Car Payment your going to be broke... ALL THE TIME, Xmas- BROKE - B-Days - BROKE - Dates- BROKE lol it is just reality man...

As far as a Shop, yes take it to a shop, usually 60-100 bucks they do a full overlook, but it is a LOOK, they have no way to see the future... Get a Compression test done and go from their. Don't say no to something because you THINK they might of beat on it, because the guy that works at the dealer could of done the same... Look at the car though, see how clean it is, interior, exterior, rims, underneath... People that run their car HARD AND stupid usually don't care to the car like they should. People that respect the fact they have a nice ride and spent a lot of money will show that in the car... So just be mindful... Ask the guy so how many times you ran it? Does it get up and move? lol Sometimes the guy will be like nope never, then you get the guy that slips "OH YEA MAN I RAN IT THIS ONE TIME AND DID THIS" then you say OKAY buddy have a good one...

Were here to help you so take my 2 cents or not but this is my advice........

Does an auto insurance policy have to be in the same name as the car loan?

Include All Drivers
For Full Coverage, The Insurance policy should be properly in the name of the vehicle owner with any additional drivers listed as additional insureds on the policy. When the vehicle is still under a finance note. The finance company will generally require that the buyer maintain full coverage auto insurance until the note is paid. As this is part of the finance agreement signed by the buyer, failure to do so can subject the vehicle to repossesion by the finance company.

For liability only, any driver may obtain a liability policy for operation of the vehicle whether they are the owner or not, Though most insurers will require you address the insured status of the owner.
Owners Liability
In most cases the name of the registered owner does have to be the name of the insured. But some companies may issue policies to anyone for any car, owned or not.

So Basically it is saying that anyone that is a driver of the car has to be on the policy. And it doesn't have to be the registered owner. Now on the other side, I guarantee you 100000000000% that having your dad Co-sign will save you money because the interest rate, and then having you both on insurance (regardless of ownership will save you a ton)

Why don't you secure the money before wasting a seller's time with test drives and trips to the mechanic? Nothing pisses me off more than taking time out of my busy schedule to show stuff only to find out the person doesn't even have the money yet and is only dreaming. In the business we call it tire kickers.

Get the money first then go car shopping or take your already saved up money and buy one outright without the loan.

Just go get a 6th or 7th gen for like 3 grand. Use the remaining money to pay insurance ahead of time or invest in the car. I got my 6th gen for 2,800 and didn't have to have a loan or anything.

If your 100% made up on your decision than, go for the one from the dealer. But have it checked out first. The first one you listed (Overpriced) Second one (More than likely drove it quite hard).

The person from the dealer however, will of more than likely had the highest chance of being able to take it apart and could probably tell if somthing is going to be going wrong soon.

Also don't forget when buying a used car with close to 90k miles on it, your going to have a pretty big maitenance period come up. Think about timing belt / water pump / etc. I'm not sure when you change it on a 2006 but I'm sure its even more expensive than my 6th gen which is like 400.

I'm turning 19 in 2 days, I know how much you want an Si, I would kill for one. But its too early to get a brand new one. Just get like a 2000 SI or something.
