This is my issue. It makes absolutely no sense to ban them. No sense whatsoever.i shouldve made myself clear... i understand the caffeine/alcohol mix... (had to do a short paper on them for a class) i just dont understand the band on them? what about baileys and coffee? but i guess people wouldnt get cocked off those... and like many people have said, Vodka and Redbull...thats not much different?
Agreed.f**k four loco. good riddance. i will never drink another one after the last time.

I can tell you guys the difference between the two.....people buy red bull and vodka and mix them on their own volition. Four Loko is sold as is with caffeine and alcohol already. Its kinda like the difference between a car manufacturer selling a car without an airbag, and someone buying a car and then removing the airbag. Both are on the same level of unsafe, but the manufacturer has an obligation to provide a safe product. Whatever the consumer does with the product on their own volition after purchasing the product is their own business. This is my issue. It makes absolutely no sense to ban them. No sense whatsoever.
That's not the company's problem. That's the consumer's problem. You have to understand that the people that are consuming Four Loko are young, immature adults.
I've never seen a four loko commercial or advertisement. Aside from seeing it at gas station convenience stores, this blow up is the first I've heard of the drink.Four Loko advertises itself as a party-get-f**ked-up drink. You don't see advertisements for Redbull & Vodka nor Bailey's. Bailey's commercials are very mature, old-time styled, and generally people consume them on a late night after a dinner while relaxing.
So... because they provide a product that accomplishes the same goal at a cheaper cost... it's wrong? If they provided the same product for triple the cost.... you'd be ok with it?Also, comparing a Redbull & Vodka to a Four Loko is kinda stupid. The volume and cost between the two is great. Redbull & Vodka cost what, $5-8 a glass? Four Loko cost like $3 and you get like 4x the amount.

So you're saying that we can allow things that are fairly dangerous, but not things that are a little more than "fairly dangerous".I can tell you guys the difference between the two.....people buy red bull and vodka and mix them on their own volition. You know.. I almost said something VERY similar to this.-Why don't we ban McDonald's while we're at it? We do have an obesity problem in America. Giving people the ability to overindulge should be illegal. This is the same s**t as four loko.
Agreed. It's easy to blame others. RIP to those who died, but let's face reality. It's their own damn fault.^ man (joe) you make good points... anything is harmful if not used properly/moderately... i go to college where people abuse everything...its not Four Lokos fault, but ourselves...
Joe, I do not disagree with you at all. I agree that there should be no such ban. We have a capitalist economy, therefore I do not think that the government should be sticking their nose in the situation, and banning a drink that is for all intents and purposes legal. I was simply distinguishing the difference between vodka/red bull, and Four Loko. I agree that the actions of some that are stupid should not negatively effect those who are responsible. s**t, DRIVING sometimes has a side effect of death, but you don't see the government banning that. People take that for granted, and drive irresponsibly everyday, and it is one of the most overlooked dangers that we live with in today's society. So you're saying that we can allow things that are fairly dangerous, but not things that are a little more than "fairly dangerous".
Binge drinking on its own can have pretty serious ramifications (AKA death.) It's legal though. Smoking is dangerous, but it's legal.
I don't see much of a danger difference between the two things just mentioned, and drinking this particular beverage. The only difference is this one is a little more dangerous than normal binge drinking, and not quite as dangerous as smoking (Arguably. Smoking is almost guaranteed to kill you younger long term. Short term, you obviously won't notice much except for a little wheezing going up those stairs. Four loko has potential to kill you short term if you're irresponsible. Long term - once again, if you're responsible, you won't see negative health effects).
If used responsibly, just like any other drug (yes, alcohol and caffeine are drugs), this drink poses no more negative health effects than several other things that are legal. The media is blowing this out of proportion just as they did with swine flu. The government is punishing this company and responsible drinkers for the faults of the irresponsible ones.

How about we attend to some things that actually NEED to be taken care of.
-How about the fluoride in our tap water which causes skeletal fluorosis? How about the heavy metals in our drinking water?
-Aspartame in several food products which several studies have linked to alzheimers
-The fact that we have an acceptable amount of rat and roach feces allowed in our food by law
-High fructose corn syrup in almost every sweetened processed food we consume? The corn farmers flaunt their commercials telling everybody it's ok. In reality, they're spouting bullshit. Not only has HFCS been linked to higher obesity rates, but also to toxic chemicals in the foods they contaminate. The chemicals tend to form when HFCS is present in foods as part of the processing. In one study of 20 samples of HFCS, 9 of them contained a measurable amount of Mercury. For those who don't know, Mercury is a neurotoxin.. in other words - it wrecks your brain. Other toxic compounds have been linked to HFCS in processed foods.
