I'm just a user on this forum that sometimes goes to meets if there's actually anything going on in the Midwest. I'm not here to babysit, hold hands, and come up w/ ideas. I've been in the scene long enough to know what I like, what keeps me around, and what events I'll go to and to keep modding my car.

If you really want my opinion, go back to the damned basics. People tend to see how they can one up each other all the time, and forums do that too. If you want a site active, there needs to be meets and events. How do you think a scene even started? A bunch of us were standing around in a lot years ago, comparing wheels we just got, or an intake, a header, lowered, etc. It became a weekly thing, and BAM, here we are today.
As far as sponsoring and all that, I really don't care about it. Yes perks are nice and sites need money, but I'm here for the SCENE, and to make friendships, not for the sponsors.

Here in STL we have meets almost every night of the week, and that's for import and domestic. STLHondas(.com) meets every Monday in the summer at SnoBiz, then cruise after that.
Wed is a meet but I can't remember where bc I don't go to that one.
Every Thurs. is Bubble Tea, then Applebees after for 1/2 price appetizers. Thursday is also Sonic which consists of more of a show scene/racing later, and Sonic consists of ALL cars.
Sundays usually consist of back road and/or river road cruises, ending at someone's house to BBQ, play video games, watch Top Gear, something. All other nights we're all busy and/or building, chill time, etc.

Most of us go to IA, no one goes to NOPI anymore and since GIR just closed last year our track scene is absolutely screwed so we are being forced to go further, which none of us really mind. STL really isn't into HIN, and a lot of us go to Starved Rock in the fall.

My point? I'm not sure since I had a lot of different tangents in my post. It made sense in my head and I just started typing.
It's clear that your current interest lies entirely on the Club side, and your comments are likely very helpful there. My point is that, like it or not, the newbies you guys despise are CC's greatest if not only source for stimulating site activity.

Touche. But when someone has been in the scene as long as I have(12years), and longer like a lot of other users, the club side is more than likely where we'll stick. Been there, done that...ya know?

I both understand and respect this natural evolution. It's actually a normal progression for long standing members of car forums. This is part of the success of Club Civic. You are attracted by the tech/Civic side, but you eventually stay for the Club side.

Someone has a problem, and he isn't getting a reply. Someone that only frequents another generation section gets on, doesn't see the thread, OPs thread possibly gets pushed to the back and doesn't get a reply.

Situation now:
OP has problem, someone comes in, has the answer, posts, problem solved.
Situation now: OP Has problem, noob comes in, has the wrong answer, OG member avoids the whole thing because it looks like a cluster f**k now, OP tries the wrong thing and decides ClubCivic is full of retards because it doesn't work.

The place where I see the new members making their presence known in a really positive way is in the regional threads/ the club side of things. These guys are amp'd to meet up all the time and that's great. I know the North East has a bad reputation with people flaking out on this site.

I somewhat agree and disagree on combining the tech sections. While I agree with Jolly that combining sections forces people to learn, it still doesn't really help... When you guys first merged all the sections, if I read the thread and I read anything about 2001+ or 1995-, I instantly hit back... I wouldn't even bother reading or trying to help because I felt the most comfortable replying to 6th gen related threads.

But on the other hand, what I just said goes with Low's side... Not everyone owns multiple generation Civic's or spends time learning about multiple generation Civic's. From trends on here, it's true that you usually stick to tech threads that pertain to your generation vehicle.

Over the past probably month to two months, I've been trying to get over that barrier and help out where I can. I get so incredibly bored at work sometimes, I will search here and there on things I don't know and try to help. But Low (I keep saying Low, I don't know your name lol) is right... The Civic isn't what it used to be. It keeps drastically changing. And for the OG's, it's harder to keep up with all this information. I still don't know s**t about 7th and 8th gens.

I too agree on the multiple gens. My first honda was a crx so I'm familiar w/ a 4th gen. My exfiancee back home had a fully built ITR swapped 5th gen, so I'm familiar with them. I now own an EK and most of my friends have EK's so most of my knowledge is there. I'm somewhat familiar with 7th gens and even 4th gen accords. 8th+ civics I'm clueless and looks-wise, they're my favorite.

I try to post in other areas, but mostly I read and research bc I don't want to give incorrect information.

If you guys are tired of the newbs not using the search button and all these pointless threads then go with the chatbox...Id say theres a decent amount of people on given any certain time of day and those questions that are being asked in the newly made threads can be answered within a couple of minutes without making a thread. It also gets everybody talking.

I always wondered why we didn't have a chatbox. I would use the heck out of it. Tends to keep threads on topic too b/c you can just ramble in the box.

Best thing said in this thread. I'd use the chatbox at school, and at home both. It would really keep the stupid threads down I think. We have it on Ej8Squad and that's whats got my attention since activity has been low over here.

id like to see the site restricted to lurkers... make them register and use the site for real. not just browse for free...

there are alot of car sites these days going to that format. it may deter a few people. but that member to guest ratio will drastically swing the other way.

i mean look at facebook... you cant even look someone up or see a page until your logged in....

Great point. Not even now, but this has been how some forums have been for a long time. I mean they'll have off topic open to the public but everything else is restricted to members.

I believe new members should be on a "probation" when they first sign up. After the noobs post their thread, the threads should be approved by a mod to make sure that he has used the search feature instead of starting a new thread and asking the same questions as 100 other people.

Also i believe there should be a question when you first log in, a very basic question that would keep the spammers from getting on this site easier

Ill try and think of more later

I love this idea..I didn't even think about that, and most of my other forums are like this as well.

There should be a part that allows people to review a buyer or seller from this site. It will give people more confidence from buying from our trusted members and make sure people take the proper precautions with newer members

Ill try and think of more later
Considering probably 90%+ of the threads these days are by "noobs", I think the mods would be overwhelmed with threads to approve. I don't really think this would be a great idea... Unless the staff considers hiring more administrators that are in different time zones to try to overlap each other so a couple of mods are always (or usually) on. But I do think it would be a good idea to restrict the number of threads you can post per day until you reach a certain limit. I think Honda-Tech does that. Just to keep people from posting the same thread in multiple sections, etc.

I think there is a question you have to answer when you first register.

And there is a feedback system on here. Look to the left underneath your username.
