i've gotten all my hardware from
gotvapes.com due to their good pricing, high variety of products, and quick shipping. plus the guys that work there seem really nice. with my current system, there's two seperate pieces of hardware: the PV (which is basically a push activated battery) and the clearomizer (what we call an atomizer w/ a clear tank).
a single eGo-T (1000 mAh - they last me a day and a half, sometimes two days) costs $22
(link), and the charger costs $16. personally, i like to have two batteries so i can just swap it out for a fully charged one when it's out of power. they sell a kit for $67 that comes with 2 batteries, the charger, and a nice case to hold the PVs, charger, and tanks. this is what i have and use.

personally, i use Kanger T2 tanks
(link). they cost under $6 and hold 2.4 mL. i usually carry four of them in my case so i can switch flavors during the day. what's nice about these is that you can take them apart easily for cleaning and the atomizer coils are replaceable. they sell replacement coils for under $2 with different resistances, all the way from 1.5 ohm to 3.0 ohm. i find the stock 2.2 ohm coils they come with to work fine with the regulated 3.3V that the eGo-T puts out, though some people prefer other combinations. there's a certain wattage range that is safe for the hardware and produces good results. using ohm's law you can work out the outputted wattage.
quick ohm's law refresher:
- Volts / Ohms = Amps
- Amps * Volts = Watts
anyway, just starting out you probably won't need to worry about any of that stuff. the way they come stock works pretty good and it's not until people start getting real serious about vaping that they start modding their stuff... kinda like cars, i guess.
then there's the joose. this is the liquid you vaporize. it's made composed of four things (or three, if you choose to go nicotine free):
1) Nicotine - this is optional, but most of us still need it. you can tell the joose makers how much nicotine you want.
2) PG - propylene glycol - a clear, colorless, odorless, tasteless, somewhat syrupy liquid. it is used as a vaporizable base to dilute pure liquified nicotine. it's commonly used in asthma inhalers and nebulizers. ejuice (or joose, as we call it) uses pharmaceutical grade PG. this is what delivers the "throat hit" when you vape.
3) VG - vegetable glycerine - this is a slightly sweet liquid carbohydrate that comes from plant oils. it's used to create the visual "smoke" when you vape. it's commonly used as a food additive.
4) Flavor - pretty self-explanatory, really.
i've tried a few different kinda of joose and my preference are the ones made by
kickbassvapor.com. it's run by a couple (bob & missy) from missouri and they're very good at making delicious flavors. they can mix the joose with different ratios of VG/PG (30/70 if you like the throat hit - 60/40 if you want more "smoke" but virtually no throat hit), different levels of nicotine (0mg, 6mg, 12mg, 18mg, 24mg), as well as extra flavoring. they sell 15mL bottles for $7.75 and 30mL bottles for $13.75. i am currently buying a few different flavors in 15 mL bottles to try them out before i decide on what flavors i want to get big bottles of. i was a fairly heavy smoker so i go through about 2mL of joose a day... sometimes more, sometimes less.. your own habits will dictate how fast you go through it.... or how tasty a joose is. i went through a bottle of the jolly rancher green apple real fast. i hard a hard time putting it down because it was so delicious.
so, if you get the $67 kit, a couple of kanger t2 tanks ($12), and a couple of bottles of joose ($16), it'd be costing you $95 plus shipping. you'd be well equipped though.
at the very cheapest, your minimum investment would be a $22 PV + $15 charger + $6 tank + $8 joose = $51
sorry this was so lengthy, but i hope it helps.
