Spring Cleaning/maintenance ideas

So I'm going home from campus next week for spring break. I'm wondering what all should I add to my list of things to do maintenance wise. Most of this is to get out the way since I possibly won't be returning home until the end of the semester, the beginning of May
So far:
Oil change
brake change/ and brake fluid
Clutch fluid change
Maybe a tune-up since I haven't done one yet and had the car since last July, and do somewhat frequent 10 hour drives (Miami to Jacksonville round-trip)

Anything else I should add or look at since I have the space & time? I'd have to look up how to do the different fluid changes since the only fluid change that I've ever done was a trans fluid on my old Bonneville. And I work at Harbor Freight so the tools I'll need I know I can get from there.

When you do your breaks dont forget to grease the caliper slider pins/bushings. Check tie rod ends, wheel bearings, ball joints, control arm bushings for play or cracked boots. Check sway bar links if you have them. How long ago was your coolant last flushed? Ever change your transmission fluid? Do you have your owners manual or a haynes manual? Look through the maintenance schedules in them and see what you have missed. Clean your windows on the inside, clean the interior.

Oh yea definitely can't forget to grease slider pins. My last car whoever did them didn't put enough grease. Ended up redoing them later. Nope I've never changed transmission fluid in a my Civic or a manual. I definitely add the other items to my list too. Definitely seen the bad end of that stuff. Had to get the both axles replaced all the way through due to a bad trans mount (I hate 3800 engines for that reason)[emoji35] [emoji35]

Should I get a Haynes or Chilton manual? Or does it not really matter

Thanks. I can also definitely improve my driving to improve my MPG lol
Yeah, yeah. You should at least get some other ideas.

Brakes, Dancam! C'mon, man.

Seriously though, definitely drain & fill the manual tranny. I recently did so using AC Delco Synchromech Friction Modifier and definitely recommend it. Read for yourself.

The only worthwhile manual would be the Helm manuals because they break down everything, unlike the far cheaper and more basic Haynes & Chiltons. However, keep in mind you can download the full manual online for free.

[emoji23][emoji23] yea that was the 1st thing I noticed on the list. But I'll get an in depth look when I get home. Cause I've been wondering if you can actually increase the MPG on an EX besides my shifting.

Keep in mind drilled rotors are useless, and are actually worse in some cases. I recommend OEM or slotted only rotors.

As for the plugs and wires, those plugs might be fine but the wires look like crap. I'd look for OEM.

Ok thanks. Cause I've never used drilled on this car so I'll look for OEM rotors then. I know the current wires say "NKG R 8" on them

I believe you mean NGK, which is a great brand & one that performs well on Hondas. I personally wouldnt take the chance of an uncommon brand for Honda ignition parts. Hondas can be very particular. Just do it right & once.

Regarding brake discs. Definitely dont use drilled and/or slotted rotors on these Civics because theyre not performance cars. Youd be reducing brake surface area thus reducing brake effectiveness.

Lol definitely a typo. I'm trying to narrow down between the different types NGK plugs & wires now. It's like 3 different types for both (plugs & wires). I looked on the Honda parts site & had the plugs on there for like $3-4 a piece. But can't find the wires. Will probably just call the dealer back home for price & see if mom can pick them up.

NGK wires are just fine and you can find them on eBay for around $45. You can find the 4 plugs on eBay as well for $10-$12 shipped.
