I bought this car with 90,000 miles on it. It is at 112,000 miles. My bearings in the transmission are shot and clutch. Went ahead and change clutch and changed some of the bearing because they wanted $3000.00 to finish them all. All I want to know is a specific transmission that is a some what high performace that can withstand the stock engine. The mechanic said that the 2001 model tranny was known for problems.

So wait are you changing the whole trans, or just replacing the bearings? And you wouldn't need a high performance trans to handle the d17 probably the best thing would be a new tranny, or slightly used one out of another 7 gen.
