1/4 mile times

I took my car out on these back rodes with my buddies G-tech to test my 1/4 mile time, the thing said i ran a 16.2

All i have done is intake (my moms old nylons and a rubber band off some broccoli) and I sort of have exhaust (I drove off a curb and the muffler got smashed; it sounds cool).

Any way, is that good? Its four dour non-vtec.
What else besides real exhaust and intake can I do to make it fast? I can't afford an engine swap.

engine swap. lol I didn't want to swap at first but then people started telling me how much it would cost just to get up to the power of an ls engine. That's when I made up my mind to swap.

16.2..for a 4 door non vtec with homemade intake and smashed exhaust...sounds like :bs:...but it may be possible..

Are those G-tech things accurate? That is what I used it may not be very accurate. I also have the interior stripped to lower the weight of the car.
No trunk stuff slowin me down.

Yeah, dude, i hear those are pretty acurate. I dunno man about mods...I put my dual stage wing on the back and it helps with arodynamics. I hear you can also buy a v-tec for your motor? Or, if it works, you could prolly pick one up at a junker for cheap. But i'm not for sure . my engine came with vtec on it so i dunno about the vtec swaps. Anybody know? hope this helps.

Can you buy v-tec? You might be dumb... but if you can I'll do it.
I wanna get a short shifter to increase shift times.
I just bought an aluminum wing on e-bay, that will help a lot.

dont get a short shifter, although they shorten shift times a bit, it throughs the computer off bc of the quick shifts, the only way not to end up doing damage in the long run is to somehow let the computer or whatever it is know whats going on, there is a post somewhere on here about it

holy god attack of the newbs.....wow...short shifter messing s**t up? never heard of that...why would it? its just like being a bad ass shifter, and being able to shift fast...so your saying if someone can shift mad fast theyll f**k it up? buy vtec for your motor? ummm not exactly you can do a minime swap and put a vtec head on your d15, i guess thats buying vtec.....but if its a ex, it should have vtec.....16.2, i dont know, but i doubt it.....

Another intelligent and fact based statement by VtecThis. Buddy, your car is FWD any wing whatsoever will not help your car. It will do s**t for your car except create extra weight and drag. Drag is the stuff your trying to reduce when in reality you are creating it.

Second of all, you don't buy a vtec. You can put a vtec head on your car. but I wouldn't suggest it since your engine is already pretty slow (its ok, mine is to). Swap in a B series if you're looking for good 1/4 times.

OMG!!!!! Somebody jump on this!

Ok, school is now in session:

Yes you can buy vtec, it's a D16z6 or equivalent head, ECU, and oil line away.

Short shifter to increase shift times? HUH?

Congratulations on the aluminum wing purchase. You know you probably could have just got a parachute from Army/Navy surplus and dragged that around to slow your car down.

Swap time

16.2 ? I guess it's possible. I have a 94 ex with vtec and I can tell you don't try to even and make that engine any faster. You have 2 options drop in a ex motor and turbo the s**t out of it until it blows or save up and drop in a B series motor. I have read on other site that a mini-swap with the d16z6 have ran some low 14 to high 13's with turbo but I don't really think it will last long with all the boost you have to put in the motor to run like that.

Turbos only making your car run 14s? That's sad...

To the guy who sold his Lumina, it best of not been a Z34.
