Hey all, need some help with a friends car. It's got about 240k miles.

Car quit running, and can't get it started. He's changed the fuel filter on the firewall thinking maybe that was it. Car is getting fuel at the injector rail, and appears to be getting spark. The car will turn over, but doesn't try to crank beyond that.

We're gonna try to work on it tomorrow and wondering what to look at?

Thanks in advance!!

What happened prior to it failing to start? Any work done?

sounds like you got some timing issues.if its bone stock, got spark, got fuel, and still wont start,i'd start in one of two places:either the cam/crank sensors or the timing belt.just a suggestion tho....let me kno how it goes.

Weak spark or good spark?

Thanks for the replies.

I haven't laid a hand on the car yet, planning on helping him tomorrow.

There was no work done to it at all prior to this happening. One thing I forgot to mention was that one morning on the way to work, we noticed a pretty strong raw gas smell. There was no obvious leaks.

How can you tell if it's a strong or weak spark?

How is the best way to check timing?

Thanks again!!!

Forgot one other bit of info:

This actually happened a couple of other times. Once it started fine on its on a few hours later, the other time he was having it pulled back up the driveway and he was able to dump the clutch and it started.

This time, nothing works.
