1995 Civic electrical problem. Please Help!

I have a 1995 honda civic 2 door. For some weird reason the car will not start unless the driver door is open all the war. I know it must be electrical but what could be causing this and what can i do? The battery is not dead and works fine, but there is just silence when I turn the key unless I open the driver's door. Any suggestions?

so when you turn the key to on position is their any clicking or anything at all? Can u hear the fuel pump run with the door closed?

you have a wire that must be tripping another wire. start at your door ajar sensor and work your way towards the dash. do the lights display your door is open?

yes there is a clickling. The car runs fine while it is going just randomly is won't start. Could it be a wire going to the starter?

no the lights do not show that the door is open

Well could be main relay but IDK why thatd be affected by door being open. I'd say ask a friend if you could borrow his main relay for some tests or just head over to the junkyard and pocket one since that would be the easiest fix. When my main relay started to die, car wouldn't start when it was left out in the sun and got too hot inside.

has your radio worked before? or did you just buy it like that?

My sister's eg didn't want to start and I ended up finding that the Main Relay had some broken solder joints, so I soldered it myself and now it starts up easily. Check the Main Relay and if you see any broken solder joints, that may be the problem. If it's not that, then you may want to check the wiring that lets you know if your door is open or not near your door jamb.

It is very strange. The light does come on when the door is open, so that sensor works. I was thinking it could be the main relay but I hit/wiggled it and car still wont start. Then I open the door all the way and sure enough car starts just fine. So to me that says that its not a solder joint because if hitting it does nothing but opening the door starts it... Is there anything else I should try?

You have 2 wires crossing paths that are most likely worn from age

do you have all your engine grounds in place; valve cover to chassis, thermostat housing to chassis?
