Hello c.c.
I think i might be trading my civic for a 1998 eclipse GS-T.
When talking to the guy he said nothing at all is wrong. He is a mechanic. The car has 130k miles on it. Starts up every time, AC ice cold, well maintained. Surface rust starting on rear hatch thing. NOT ON STRUT TOWERS. Has greddy bov, 3" full exhaust,Fmic, injen intake, super clean engine, clean oil comes out when changed no blending fluids, brand new stage 3 clutch, fidanza lightened flywheel. Body is in good shape. Im checking it out monday.
I think it is worth it even if i get 1 1/2 or 2 years out of it. I will probably love it and end up doing a new engine anyway. I really want to be boosted. Seems legit but i will find out on the test drive. He wants my car to start a new project.

You should definitely believe everything he says then :???:
I dont mean it like that, im going to go through it with a fine tooth comb. However it seems legit from talking to him. Is it something to consider?

Something to consider, yes. I'm not saying you should walk away. But you shouldn't consider his word worth anything. Unless you're an experienced mechanic, take it to one and pay them to inspect it. Obviously go over the basics yourself first, but still take it anyway. If he refuses to allow you to take it, then walk away without hesitation. Also, take a look at what others are selling for in similar condition.

DSM's are usually headaches... Every person I have ever known that has owned one has complained about them. Especially if it's modified... I wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole. Yeah, they can make great power and they're cheap (there's a big hint for yah).

If you want something with power, go for something that's more reliable. Used Evo's or STi's can be had for under 20 but insurance may be an issue.

Every DSM I've ever had experience with has ALWAYS had issues. They usually have issues with transmissions and overheating. I honestly wouldn't do it, but it's your car and your choice!

very true, but they are also know for breaking timing belts like mad, blowing up trannys, bad valve seals, and like he stated getting rust in structural areas...

i almost got a GSX years ago untill i researched them...
