Okay, so im only 16 right.

I have a 4 dr 1998 civic lx and i bought a cold air intake.

My dad was supposed to help me put it on but he doesnt want to and wants me to send it back because he thinks its a waste of money and that it will just dangle there when its on and it will hit everything when i take turns and stuff. I think its ridiculous that he thinks this.

I try to tell him differently and he doesnt listen, he thinks he knows everything about MY CAR, i have done my homework on cold air intakes and i know where they go and what they do, but he is content on thinking that its a waste of money. Its a real bring down considering that i payed all this money for it and now i have to put it in myself because he doesnt want to because he thinks its a waste when really he knows nothing, i even showed him pictures! he doesnt want to do this with me, its frustrating

So wat im asking is for some help on what to do with this intake, where could i go for instructions (mine is off of ebay and didnt come with instructions) or manuals

why did you get a cold air for it anyways? your really not gonna see any gain in performance. As far as installing it, its pretty basic and simple. take the air box and everything with it out (keep the sensors). you may or may not have to take the front bumper off (with mine i did). there a many posts on this site to help you out, just search.

your dad was pretty much right. it won't give you any noticeable power gains. it's not because cold air intakes dont work, its because your 1.6L mild compression motor really doesn't care that the intake air is like 8º cooler. on a 5.0L mustang, yeah, it'll make an improvement, but d-series civics just don't respond to simple bolt-ons very well.

however, you'll notice an increase in engine noise when you open the throttle, which some people enjoy.

installation is pretty straight forward. remove the bolts and hose clamp that hold the stock airbox in place with simple hand tools. then loosely fit the cold air intake into place (may require removing front bumper - also pretty simple). tighten down the hose clamps when you're sure there is plenty of clearance and everything lines up. one somewhat major problem you'll run into is that non-vtec civics don't have the hole cut out located behind the passenger side headlight for the intake tube to pass through. on the EX and Si that hole is already cut out for the factory intake. you'll need to bust out your dremel for this. if you don't feel like cutting through sheetmetal, you can convert the cold air intake into a short ram...
