1999 civic throttle response/pressure

I have a 99 civic. It is extremely hard to gradually push down on the gas pedal. It kind of moves in small increments. when im slowly accelerating and want to speed up, its not smooth because the pedal does not push smoothly. What can fix this?

thats not 2 safe... grease the pivot point of the pedal w/lithium (white) grease....or wd-40

Start by thoroughly cleaning the throttle body. The throttle plate may be dirty and sticky. If that does not help, then replace the throttle cable.

The pedal is also worth lubricating.
