1st gear seems to get stuck sometimes.

Hey guys,

Does anyone else have an issue with the 1st gear on their EK/EJ?

Mate is having a problem, Sometimes when his sitting at a light and go to put it in to 1st, shifter will only go in about half way or so. It happens every once in a while. I have also experienced this on my previous B16a and D14a.

Gearbox oil, master clyinder and slave cylinder have been replaced with new.

Its the first gear lockout. Happens on all those trannys, I don't know of any fixes for it, I just let out the release the clutch and try again, usually works.

I have sort of the same problem but with going in reverse which is somewhat odd, but i just do the same thing 00siboy does only with going in reverse.

could also be a throw out bearing maybe? my clutch just went out a couple weeks ago, it was working fine then one day it just wouldnt shift right, sometimes shift between gears easy then other times i had to pull it out of gear hella hard then one day it just completely went out so i had to start the car in first gear. i had no symptoms at all until about a week before it fully went out. i just had a shop do my clutch and now none of my gears get stuck in or out of gear

i think they all do it a little, my old ej8 would do it, just let the clutch out, and press it again. it will usually slide right in after that.

Reverse has a lockout as well.

I have a b20 swap with a ls tranny in my hatch, what I do for the reverse when its acting stupid, is put it in 5th gear first then put it in reverse. And for first gear, I bought a 450g blox shift knob and it helps throw it in gear better because of the weight.
