Hello all. I'm new here. Sorta. Back in 2003 I registered here when I had my 96 DX 4dr. I lived in Jersey then. But never posted. Just read alot and enjoyed your posts. Sold the car,, bought a Taurus, moved to Ohio, blah blah blah.

Now 9 yrs later I still have a Taurus and finally bought another Civic. A 98 EJ8 EX coupe. Then i just now realized after researching a possible climate control swap that oh look... I registered here back in the day. So here I am.

The swap I refer to is the 99-00 climate control bezel to 96-98. The aftermarket radio in my car was stolen prior to buying it and the original bezel and climate controls were damaged. The bezel IMO for a 98 is overpriced everywhere I look. I have access to a 99 EX coupe. I know it can be done but what I need to know is what exactly i need from it. I don't want to swap out dash panels. I know i need the 2 harnesses for the controls and heater box thing, and to splice the wire for the rear defogger. All the posts I'm reading are from years ago. There has to be a slightly easier way to do it. lol.

A little background on my old 96. It was a DX 4dr automatic with so much stuff on it. All work except the paint job (Cadillac Escalade Green Envy) and rear wing install was done by me.

This is my new car.

IMO, way more work than it's worth.
You'd be farther ahead, time and money wise just to step up and get the 96-98 bezel.

Flat out, it will be easier to put the correct bezel back in instead of pulling everything for the the 99-00 swap, which is what you'd need to do as you're going from mechanical to electric.

There's not, that is the correct way to do it, but it is time consuming and tedious.

Sounds like people need alot of beer to do this. lol. I wonder if theres a way to not have to disconnect the heater hoses or ac lines... But I'll prolly still search for a 96-98 bezel, I found the factory radio buried but it won't work... If it did would it need a theft code?
