Hey lads, first ever thread,go me! Have noticed the last week my civic is starting to jerk and hesitate especially under 2000rpm. If I was moving off from the lights for example, when I would hit 2nd it feels like its going to cut out,and this is the same for any gears.Pressing the accelerator does nothing, then after a few seconds it will bolt into life again. As you can imagine its such an annoying thing for any car to do so any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I have recently bought the civic and its my first so just hope its not a serious problem.

About the car:
When I bought it it would idle up and down to 2000rpm. The guy I took it to said it was an idle valve controller and that a new one would need to be ordered from Japan. What he done instead was clean it and put it back. The story now is that when I turn the car on,it will idle up to 2000rpm then after a few minutes will return to normal, this in itself is a relief because initally it would jump up and down to 2000. I was wondering if the problem im experiencing now is a continuation of the idle valve sensor.

Any thoughts are greatly appreciated, thanks guys =)

Burp the coolant and be sure it's all the way full. Said you cleaned the IACV so you're good there (probably). Stock ECU/tune? You may be tuned for something else with out even knowing it. Do you know the history of your car? I would crack open the ECU and check that it's stock. The jerking issue can usually be attributed to fuel problems.

Ye id say its stock ECU.Im the 3rd owner on it,it has a full service history. When you say fuel problems do you mean there is too much fuel or not enough getting through?
