2000 Honda CX Horsepower Help

Hi Everyone, I just registered on this site today, so sorry if this is has been covered (not sure where to find it?) My wife drives a 2000 Civic CX hatchback. It has the 109hp 1.6L in it and it's a dog especially when the A/C is on and trying to accelerate on the highway. I installed a cold air intake 2 years ago and didn't notice a big increase in horse power and my wife hates the buzz noise associated with it. Will ECU chips work? Is there a better quieter Cold Air Intake I can buy? Any advice or insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

The noise of the cold air isn't going to change dramatically with a different one. A smaller tubing might quiet it down a little or put the stock intake with a K&N on. ECU chips on a stock cx motor are pretty much useless and a waste of money. A different transmission with shorter gears will yield better acceleration. Something off an ex or si model but once cruising your gas mileage will not be as good and rpm's will stay higher to maintain the same speed you had before.

these cars were made for gas savings as a commuter car. If you want it to move any quicker, i suggest a 50 shot. other than that youll waste money just to gain 10-15 hp that you wont feel.

gyea true that. unless you do a major internal upgrade. i had put an aem intake on and felt no different but just better throttle response and a being loud.
im just doing an ex conversion exhuast so when i do a swap it'll have an exhaust system ready for what ever motor im getting.
