I have a 2001 Civic LX with a stock casette deck and a Alpine CD changer in the trunk. I want to wire it for an aux inpit for a MP3 player. Has onyone done this? is there a way to do it without loosing the changer? I want to wire it myself rather than buying an expensive adapter.

Hmm, If it were me, Id just get an ALPINE head unit instead of the adapter. In the long run youll save time and headaches just to save a few bucks. But thats my .02.

Another way to go is USB. I put most of my discs on USB 4GB stick that way i get the music but dont have discs bouncing around all over the place. I have the pioneer 8000BT and its double din which fills up the hole nicely.

I don't believe that it's possible with that headunit

I had a similar problem. I have a 98 with no cd/tape player on the unit. The CD player had to be attached like a cd changer. I have not seen anything where you can hardwire the aux input to the actuall headunit so i just bought another OEM headunit with in dash cd player and added the aux input. All of the aux inputs i've seen replace the CD changer plug.

One thing that you might try to do, which i'm not sure would even work, would be to splice the aux input cables into the cd changers cables. The bad thing is if it doesn't work you just ruined a cd changer and an aux input.

One last thing, upon looking for my project i stumbled upon someone who had hardwired an aux input into the headunit. There was no "how to" nor did i ask. I just saw that it was made and he was seeling it. I imagine he soldered this input to the actual board inside.

EDIT: I have an 04 OEM CD player if you are interested in going the same route i did. I'm not sure if they fit but they are the same generation...
