does it have a built in rpm switch?
like... does it have a way to set which rpm it comes on?

if not, you'll need some more parts

do you have the brand and model number?

there should be 3 or 4 wires.
a ground, a power wire, an illumination wire although sometimes they dont have them... just lights up when you turn your car on, and a wire that you can either hook to your current tach or run off the distributor

you could mount it next to a vent, then run the wires through the vents into your dash

that's how i hooked mine up atleast, i didnt wanna drill holes in my dash

im the friend thats tryin to help him...i installed my autometer cobalt tach easily by running the tach signal wire through the firewall and to the tach signal wire near the driver side? my question is do the new Si's have that wire or do you need to go to the distributor? also there is very little room in the engine bay in these new si's and does anyone have any ideas for getting the tach wire through the firewall? also there is only two other wires, and switched ignition and a ground...anyone know a good switched ignition source for the new si cuz everything is basically covered in black plastic covering?
