Just thought I'd share with y'all my new purchase...it's mainly for the wife (I'm still holding out for something better 8)) But we thought a 4-dr would be a sensible car, just in case. Anyway, here she is...

specs:
2005 Mazda 3i
Sedan
FWD
2.0Liter - 4 cyl. - 150 hp - 34mpg/26mpg
4 speed sport sequential transmission
Cruise control
Theft recovery system
6 disk in-dash cd player
power everything
16" alloy wheels with 205/55R16 Toyo Proxies
also purchased extended unlimited warranty

Future plans (up to the wife)
window tint
spoiler
aero kit with fogs

This is my family's (including my parents) first purchase outside the honda family in over 20 years...I kept giving the sales rep all kinds of s**t about what comes standard on hondas vs. mazdas...and how their customer service will have a lot to prove to me because I am very happy with the Honda service and techs that have been taken care of my civics and so on.

Anyway, crits and comments are welcome!

thanks!

thanks all for the comments...I'm pretty happy with it! Once the wife starts working and we get out of a little debt, I can start looking for my new whip! I'm leaning towards a 2 dr v6 accord, new Si, new-old RSX-S, and maybe the RX-8...or I could go the other way and look at getting a low mileage STI or EVO. If I get a four door, it'll have to have some puch. I've had hand-me-downs since I was 16...I'm 26 now and have even had 3 civic hand-me-downs from my younger brother! Its a sad story.

so,why a mazda 3?
the wife has been looking at the Mazda3 and the 6 for awhile, and we found a good deal on this 3. She has been wanting a 03-05 2dr accord, but we figured we prepare ourselves for kids some day!

ehh I wouldnt trust anything the salesman said about service and what not, they will tell you anything to sell a car and on topmof that they have no real power to influence or effect the service dept. unless its the sales manager. I dont mean to rain on your new car I think its pretty nice but the quality of service is dependent on the dealership theres good ones and bad ones (honda included)

very true...I've heard some stories about various Acura/Honda dealerships...obviously more good than bad, but down here in SW Missouri, the honda/acura dealerships are second to none. The main honda dealership that my family dealt with in StL was so incredible, they got my moms famous cookies every Christmas!

yeah its amazing at the level of variation of quality you find at dealerships, I have heard some nightmares. I am not to worried about barker honda (the one I deal with) My dad knows the owner and I am friends with the owners grandson. It pays to know people.
