2nd CIgarette Lighter Outlet Install

Hi all,

I bought a an extra cigarette lighter outlet to install and don't know where I should tap power from. The one I bought is wired with 18 gauge and 10A in-line fuse. I was thinking about tapping the original cigarette lighter wire, but it looks like a much smaller wire and I definitely don't want to tap it if its going to catch on fire trying to carry too much current. Where can I tap power for the new cigarette lighter? I really only want power with the key on so I don't drain the battery if I forget to unplug something.

Get a tester and find a wire that comes on with the key in the on position.

I can test them, but I don't know which wires would be big enough to handle their device plus the new outlet. If I go to the fuse panel, should I go to the same fuse as the original cigarette lighter?

Hook it to your radio switched, key switched, or the first cig lighter. It has a fuse. You won't burn anything up

I want to put it somewhere under the glovebox, or maybe just to the left of it. Basically just a spot so that the radar detector or gps wire isn't just falling across the middle of the radio and a/c.
