Is the 4-2-1 or the 4-1 header better for a 96 civic?

I have heard that the 4-2-1 is better for high end torque and the 4-1 is better for high end hp....

It really all depends on the mods you have. If you just have minor bolt ons, then stick with the 4-2-1.

4-1 good for midrange and high top end hp
4-2-1 better low end torque and more power throughout the power band.

both will flow better than the stock manifold

and on that note.. since civics are usually a little low on the low-end power range.. 4-2-1 would be best. torque is what makes you go.. hp is for bragging rights

I guess it depends on your driving style and preference. If you are racing autocross, or drag racing, most of your driving is going to be in the vtec range where the 4-1 counts most, but for just everyday driving you'll want the low end torque 4-2-1. Some 4-2-1 designs even improve the whole rpm powerband

sorry, but that is not true...i use to think the same thing..

but different headers have different deisgns... i know we're talkin about SOHC...but

but for example, for a DOHC, the toda 4-2-1 header is good for top end power...

also, and old friend is going to drop by my place tomorrow, he has a header for an SOHC, i think 4-1, not sure , but ill find uot tomorrow and let you know.. maybe you'll want to pick it up... (its never been used)

That's true, it really depends on the design of the 4-2-1, but i would have to say the average header

I love top end. And my dohc-vtec love top end too.
Much love? Go to 4.1

with an lx, the cat converter is just under the OE ex manifold. Do you just get another cat and install it further down the line with a 4-2-1 with o2 sensors spread out to avoid check eng lights?

Any other suggestions?

wiht just a header you wont feel sh*t of a diffence you just think you do. Do an Major mod then you will feel the diffrence, like a turbo or an engine swap, but a header MIGHT giv you like 4hp in the end, and in doughting you can feel that.

If it's a daily driver and weekend racer just get 4-2-1. I always heard that 4-1 is more for racing engines and not recomended for everyday driving. That's my opinion though.
