If you have a 4 point harness in a wreck is your head gonna hit the steering wheel?

And do people just get removable wheels for weight reduction and anti theft?

so your four point harness essentially replaces the airbag?

not really, four point harnesses are just an added safety feature (assuming theyre mounted correctly - if mounted wrong they can do more harm than good), but airbags are always a good idea. ;)

ok, if you have a harness, sfi approved, and mounted correctly with an aftermarket wheel, there is no way in hell you'll be touching that wheel.

the removable wheel is just for show on the street IMO, race cars have them because they dont have tilt colums... when a driver gets in through the window the wheel gets in the way... so removable wheel is used for ease of entry...

Yeah, they make harnesses with clips that disconnect from the mounting point, allowing passenger to get in, then you re-clip and your set to go - at least I think so, idk though, I think I remember hearing that. Someone please correct me if im wrong, though still if you want this route im not sure where youd mount em too. hehehe

i know they say your not supposed to do it... but according to the manual that came with my sparco harness... sparco says you can mount them without a harness bar... Im going to buy a roll bar with a built in harness bar, but this is for now. There are holes under your back seat and on the pillar that are there for anchoring rear seatbelts, so you know they are able to withstand the stresses of an accident.. according to sparco, you should pick the one that is most parellel to your shoulder (height wise) and most perpendicular to you (directly behind you waiste wise). I still have my backseat in. It works, but only one person can really sit in it..

If you mount it correctly you CAN have the rear seats in, but you need a cage , harness bar, or roll bar to mount the harness. So it''d be near impossible for people to get in the back...

i agree... i think people only keep the rear seats in that case to have a cleaner looking interior.... not one is going to sit back there.

Harnesses are really only needed for autox, etc. not daily driver, plus if you had a use for them and want the backseat, consider this, if your strapped into sfi approved harnesses in the front, why would you have people in the back with regular seatbelts?

Well like I meant the only reason youd need harnesses at all (not referring to the "would I hit the airbag") if you were doing auto-x or somethin hardcore. And in response to his question about being able to keep back seats, I was saying that youd only get harnesses for auto-x / mad turning in which case you wouldnt want anyone in your backseats anyway...

BUT on a sidenote...mike im ashamed of you. Did you know everyone was doing CTR style with air bags in the back of there racing seats?

if you mount the harness to the floor and AROUND a harness bar and maintain rear seats and seatbelts people could potentially ride back there.. it would be pretty unsafe unless the bar is HIGHLY padded with some serious high density foam.... there are pictures of everything you asked about in my signature..
