I dont know what section to put this in...but...Will a tranny off a '93 Civic (dont know what trim, most likely a LX/DX/EX, D15b motor) bolt upto and work on a Y7 block? Im almost 100% sure it will bolt up and work, but my only worry is the hydrolick lines for the clutch. Arent 5th Gen's different lenghts and in different locations than a 6th Gen? Im looking at a '93 Civic for my g/f, and she dosent want a 5spd. Mines automatic, so it'd be the PERFECT time to swap trannys....so any help/info is appreciated.

i think the d15's are cable and not hydro. cable trannys wont work. the d16z6 is hydro i think.

bump for a possible 5 spd swap

if u get a cable tranny from a 4th gen, then u will need to use a cable to Hydro converter... but since u asked for a 5th gen, any of them will work. if u want some better acceleration, get the tranny from a EX, the gears are shorter ratio.

Thanks for the input guys. Its off a 1993 Civic coupe. I dont know the trim yet, Im still waiting for an email back from the guy with the car. Does anyone know if the clutch lines are the same thought? I think I remember reading in red96civicex's thread's that they run different and are different lengths.

If I'm not mistaken, I think the starters are different from a 5th gen to a 6th gen. I saw someone say that on here once. Never needed to mess with anything like that though. The trans will work either way, the starter was what I would think your problem might be.

It will all fit...your clutch, axels and the rest will swap right over to the 5th gen.
