ok first off as mentioned the car is a stock 89 crx hf.
First it was having problems reving past 4k rpm in neutral, and its got a major misfire.
my step-bro thought that maybe it was the fuel filter because he pinched off the hose to the regulator and nothing changed, so he doesn't think its that. So we replaced the fuel filter still misfiring and not reving past 4k.
My step-dad thought it might just be something simple like the spark plugs so we replaced those too, still misfiring and not reving past 4k.
well s**t, I thought might as well just replace the spark plug wires while I'm at it and my friends sorta agreed they also said to try replacing the distributor cap and rotor, so today went down and got a set of spark plug wires, distributor cap and rotor. replaced those.
Well fixed the reving problem it seems, would go all the way to 5k didn't go past that even though it could probably handle that.
Anyways still thinking along the lines of ignition I think tomorrow I'm going to run back down to the auto store and pick up a coil and replace that.
Also another thing my friends pointed out was I should've probably checked the gap on the spark plugs.
well I searched and this was the only fourm I found that talked about spark plug gap.

I'm gussing the gap would more than likely be teh same as on an si but just thought I'd ask first.
then thinking that it might just be a problem with fuel delivery my friend also thought about dumping a can of sea foam into the gas tank and let it run through the system and see if that helps.....anything wrong with this idea?
umm could it be anything else? am I over-looking something?
thanks in advanced.
