I have a 93 civic coupe and I pulled the latch in the car to pop the hood, While pulling it I realized there was no tension to it and it also didnt pop the hood. I tried it a couple more times and still same turnout, no luck! So i go to the front of the car to stick my hand up by the latch and pull the wire so I can manually pop the hood and when I finally found the wire after wedging my hand up there and feeling around for a tiny bit, I realize that the wire is not even connected to the latch anymore so pulling the wire wont help!!! What am i to do now!? If anyone could help me with the situation it would be greatly appreciated and my engine/tranny will love you unconditionally forever! thanks for your guys time and I hope someone can/will help. bye

So the hood cord is just hanging there? I don't think you can just pull the black cord to pull the popper. It's just a shield over the actual stranded silver cord which pulls the popper. Is that what you're pulling? Stick your head behind the dash and see if it's connected at the lever by your foot. Other wise you'll have to get under your car and see if you can get something in there to manually pop the hood open.

.. Sounds like a pain in the butt. Good luck :thumbs up

Yes u can pull the cord through ur grill assuming its attacked to the latch. Lol! How do u think theives doable alarms. Reach in pull the cord, feel along the edge of the hood for the hood pin, hold it, lift hood, rip out alarm. It's stupid...that's why you don't get a run of the mill alarm install on a Honda especially.

As for op, I'm at a loss. Maybe ur local dealership/shop might have an idea.

in a 93, you can pull back the driver side fender liner and the cord is about 5-6 inches above the 12 oclock position, grab it with needle nose vice grips and yank towards you. The hood will pop right open. Check the ends ( pin inside the car and the spring end inside the engine compartment)
