93 Trans Problem

I have a 93 Civic EX with a bad trans. To fix it would cost $1500+. It has 140000 miles on it. My question is, for being a non racing civic, is it worth spending the money to fix this along with a new timing chain or would you just put the cash towards another Honda? I just wonder how long the head would last with the amount of miles on it. I have only had the car for 6 months and I think the previous owners have driven it to hell and back.

Why don't you get a used engine and trans I have a trans if you want it and the engine should only cost around 350

if you can fix the trans yourself then you can get it for like 300, i'm tellin ya man, it's the labor that's draining your dough. i wouldn't recomend getting a new car because the only honda you're gonna get for 1500 or 2000 is a honda that's older than the one you have right now.

Good point but..

I hear your point on only getting something older for $2g's. I have more money to put towards a newer car then just that. I just wondered what others thought of the idea of getting it fixed compared to selling it for some more cash towards something newer. And yes I understand that I will spend more towards a newer car then to fix my problem I currently have. It is the other issues that may come up after I fix the trans that I am thinking of. I have gone through two other used cars (chevy cavalier & olds cutlass) that I was just draining my wallet every month to keep running until I dumpped them. Then I got my Accord. The Civic use to be my brother in laws ride and he drove the s**t out of it. Thanks for the replys.
