96 Civic Driver Power Window Problem

When I bought my car, the drivers power window did not work. My mechanic told me its probably the main switch. Changed that, still nothing. Then I went on and bought a parts car where I was able to take the window motor/regulator out, and switch it. Nothing! I also tested my original motor in my parts car, and go figure, it worked. So I followed to wires to find out that where the wiring harness plugs into the door, all the wires are splitting at the clip. So I went on and wired the whole harness together, using the extra wire from the other car, in other words i made straight wire connection, bypassing the harness plug at the door. After all that, nothing! Checked the fuses, all fine. ANY IDEAS?! Everything else works, except the driver power window...

wow.... thats pretty crazy that it still doesn't work, my guess is that the wires are grounding out somewhere where you cant see, ie behind the dash. To test it, get a wire tester and test the pos-negative at different points along the wire, like at the motor, switch, fuse, idk, also have you tried running a +12v line directly to the window, just to make sure that all the components are working? That would tell you that everything is working(or not) and would get you closer to what the real problem. Most car problems are diagnosed through process of elimination, if you know the window works fine with 12 v, then you know its not the window, you just replaced the switch so thats probably not the problem, so that leaves wiring-which can be the most frustrating thing about cars. The passengers side window would be easier to fix, unfortunately you have all the windows on the drivers side switch pannel so it would be impossible to rewire all that....hmm....aside from more testing thats all i have to offer, good luck.
