96 Civic EX Low Idle

Hello All,

Just changed my O2 Sensor (front of engine) and everything went nice and smooth. Cleared the CEL and started the car. It seems to idle very low right under the 1. It use to idle right around the 3. Any reason for the difference ?

In my experience, the ideal idle for a 96 civic is around 800-1000 rpm. 3k rpm is excessively high for idle. Sounds like your idle is fine. Any performance issues along with this?

No the car is running fine you can barely tell it;s on. Just got this car, 1 month now, and no mechanic so I figured I'd ask.

I was actually hoping someone would say that's normal. Then again I had no issues when it was idling high either.

Yeah the idling around 1k is completely normal. You're welcome
