Just a simple question all civic drivers. I have a 1996 Honda Civic EX 1.6 VTEC. Right Now the only changes that have been made are the following

R33 Full Body Kit
Black Projector, Angel-eye Headlights
Angel-eye Fog Lights
18' Rims w/ Lowpro Yokohama Parada Spec2 Tires
AEM Air Intake
Neuspeed Strut Bars and swaybars
Skunk2 Adjustable Coilover Kit
DC Sports Exhaust

Nothing to major done to the engine or ECU yet

Is it even worth me trying to get more power from my civic? i mean i can take my girls '03 Civic ex, but will i ever be able to really race or should i start looking at new engines? With that in mind, what would be a good engine if i was to swap it out. i have a friend that is running a WRX engine in his 2000 civic. i mean i am sure i could never keep up with him running 11's on the 1/4 mile, but....

what are some of you guys running under the hood? what are your 1/4 times? 0-60? Anything?

Thanks

:werd:
that is a must see.
:nopics:

And I would consider a swap, anything other than a SOHC, will get you more power in the long run.

the only thing is a b18c1 is more logical being its closer to the size and weight of the d16y8. not to mention all of the suspension work nessacary to get it handlin the same. dont u lose power steering wit that swap in a civic.?.?.?

thats what hammers are for. pound out some room for the power steering & a/c. but i forgot about the weight issue.

i should have added that the entire civic is custom, he had to modify the justy for the engine to fit and he had to use a convo to add a new trany. the entire exterior (with exception of the body kit) all fenders are custom made by the owner doors are lambo. everything has been changed! The dash is in the center of the car and console looks like something out of an si. suicide rear doors since the rear seats actually face backwards. he said it took him a year and a half to build it from stock.

Anyways back to my original question........Whats the best engine i can put into my 96 civic ex

i would ssay b18c because its easier install and its lighter...the h22a has more power and torque but your handling capabilities will go down if u care about that...if its a drag car and u dont care about fabricating certain things for engine install then do an h22a.

it is a manual isnt it?

just depends on what you like a civic type r engine(b16B) will give you 184 horsepower to start with, a gs-r(b18c1) will give you 170 horsepower but the gs-r has a bit more torque
the h22 has better specs depending on which year and domestic market it carries anywhere from 190 to 220 horsepower and a significant torque increase but it requires a kit to get in your 6 gen. the b18c and b16b will bolt on.
hope i was helpful

You don't need to do a single thing to your car, because it's already fast with bodykits especially with the r33 skyline. Your 18" rims already give you good tire grip traction when you launch. And the angel eye headlights already scares the sh!t out of other racers. And also remember you got V-TECH in that ex to back it up yo. Your car is "MaDd TytE JdM yO!".
