96 ex o2 sensor help!

I have a 96 ex coupe with a 00 d16y8 header which has the primary o2 farther downstream. It was a stretch to get my o2 sensor to fit in the bung farther down. My car is now throwing a p0135 code. Is that a bad o2 sensor? Or does the location farther downstream make a difference?

Your primary o2 sensor should be between the header & catalytic converter, and the secondary should be on or behind the cat.

That CEL code is for your primary sensory, so check the connection and make sure that it's in front of the cat. If it's stretching it may have rubbed on the header and/or melted a wire. Get some wire (can't remember which gauge of the top of my head) and extend the reach of the sensor by a little bit, and make sure it's not rubbing on anything that gets super hot. Wrap the whole thing in electrical tape too.

Hope that helps!

Thank you for the help! Is there a way of getting just a harness that is longer? I just know on the 96 it plugs into the header itself and on the 99 it plugs right after the header

So I got a new sensor and redid the harness for it and the light is still on
