I'm going to be boosting the little D16Y8 with either a DSM 16G or 20G turbo... I'm just wondering if anyone has run the New Apex-i Super AFC Piggy Back unit for Air/Fuel Management on a boosted D16? I was thinking either the Apexi or an HKS unit that would have the turbo timer included in the unit. Does anyone have any direct experience with either one running boost?

yuck, dont tune your boost with a piggyback. chip an ecu or get full programmable. those things are good for bolt-ons on stock motors, but rarely are reliable for boosted setups

Thanks for the info. Is AEM still the way to go in that case? I'm shying away from them and was looking to stick to either HKS or Apexi...

well apexi makes a full programmable called the PowerFC, which is actually what i'm using on my boosted ls/v. they even have the option of a handheld unit called the FC Commander which lets you tune on the fly without needing a laptop... which is also what i have lol

you need to find out what the tuners in your area prefer to use, then go from there. My local tuner just happened to prefer the powerFC and i just happened to find one on this site for a steeeaal of a price

Well, the ONLY local shop with a dyno doesn't have a preferred unit. I will probably take the car to Kansas City to have it tuned, or my brother will short tune it at his shop (He's a technician and is helping with a lot of the install)

Thanks again!

If your going to Kansas City....go to a shop called...MKCPerformance.com

6138 Merriam Dr Merriam, KS 66203 913-432-8468

There the ones I trust most specially alot of my friends back in KS are Subaru fans...KCSubaru.com! They do alot of custom work from imports to Rods. They have a full dyno setup for RWD/FWD/AWD. Im not trying to advertise here but I figure I let people know about this place. My friend Chad works there, he does alot of the tuning and such.

Is this the Chad that originally was a Nissan Tech? Has a couple 1st Gen Eclipses from Omaha?

If it's the same guy, he did some of the work on my Prelude 7 years ago when he worked for "Import Autosports" but then he started his own shop, "3-D Motorsports" (DSM's & Subi's) but I heard he moved to KC to work at another shop....
