hello, i drive a 1997 honda civic ex coupe. EJ8 and the car does not want to start when is hot. outside or when i been driving it and park it. let say when i get to a store, and go back out to leave the car will not start. the way i turn the car on is by two methods one i grab my power probre. and connect the tip to the thin cable that is connected to the starter. that turns the engine over. and after that i can crank the car no problems. like nothing happen. the other way i just pop the clutch when im in a hill. i tested. fuel pump, fuel pump connector and cables. all witch are receiving and giving voltage. i tested the main relay. i cleaned out the injectors. and i have replace the distributor. starter. and new battery. i have to test the clutch switch. i have basically explorer the whole starting system. can any body guide me with this loop problem.

The rubber stopper that presses on the starter switch at the top of the clutch pedal may have fallen out or be broken.

okay if it was the clutch switch. i would not be able to pop the clutch to start the car at all right? and every time i pop the clutch it Always start. i have a feeling it might be the new starter. i will have to start from scratch and re test the connections. and take the starter out and tested it too.

@ronj yesterday i tested the cable the small one that come from the ignition switch. to the starter. and the starter was only receiving 6 volts. then it went 8 volts. but it never received the 12 volts that would of crank the starter. i will go under the pedal and check that boot now with the picture you proved with. thank you.

Hey so i fix the clutch switch problem. And jt was the plastic nipple, how ever now the problem is the black and white cable that goes to the starter does not get enough volts to start the starter. When i messured it got 2 to 6 and 8 then all of the suddent it recived 9 volts and boom the starter cranked the engine. Now i have to go back and track the problem. Of why the black and white cable not getting enough juice. I will have to re test the ignition .
