There is no replacement for displacement. Your little 1.6L only has 4 cylinders, not 6 or more.

D-Series engines don't make good power unless you go forced induction. Otherwise, swap it out.

Anything other than a D-Series pretty much lol. B/H/K/J-series. It really depends on your budget and what you want. Different people want different things. Each motor can make good power with money. Again, it just depends on your budget and goals.

If you stayed with your current motor, again, you'd have to go forced induction which would take a decent amount of money, especially if you want to make a lot of power.

D series are just for economy. Like point a to point b. I have a d16y8 and it's a turd in not going to sugar coat it. It plain out blows. That's why I'm going b18c5 by next summer. It's better to spend you money on upgraded engines. Then waste your money on a single jingle. Just saying. Unless your boosting or supercharging your sojc. Their not worth anything.

Even though its really expensive and not so common, the best swap for torque is a h2b swap. K swaps need wayyyy much more fabrication plus h22 is a beast motor, and with a tranny from a b series? Oh man

Not true. K-series are almost bolt ins to most chassis now (EG/EK and DC2 have mounts that LITERALLY make them drop ins. No fabbing needed. Not even for the shifter.). It's more a matter of preference, goals, and budget.

Like Tokyo said, K-Series are pretty much direct bolt-in swaps now. They've come a long way from when they first started getting swapped into other cars. Cheaper and much easier to swap.
