98 civic ex window failure.

So i've had my civic for about 8 years and just recently my windows have began to fail. My driver side window doesn't even roll down anymore and my passenger side takes forever to roll down and up. even when its all the way up, the window doesn't even have a snug fit at the top.....same with my driver side window.

my car has 90k miles on it, i hear around this time is when windows start messing up. and in my case that is right!!!!

Thoughts? cost to get it fixed?

Sounds like both window regulators need to be replaced. You might also spray some silicone lubricant into the rubber side channels to avoid binding.

Yup, you need new regulators from the sounds of it. I bought my hatch with 54,000 miles on it and they were already needing replaced. Don't buy them from the salvage yard to replace as you'd probably need to do it again shortly. I replaced just my driver side so far. I think it was around $100 or so from the dealer for one side.

Buy new, you'll be farther ahead and happier.

the honda dealer is the only place i can get these done? i figure they'd upcharge the hell out of me lol. but if its only 100 per window thats not SO bad. whats the lifetime for those anyways? for new ones. my car just hit 90k miles. so rounding up im guessing they last about 70-90k miles?

You can probably get a better price at the Majestic Honda site. Enter your VIN there.

Spraying some silicone lubricant into the rubber side channels will extend the life of the regulators.

It's definitely something you can do if you're even a little handy.

Do you have a 98 Civic EX coupe?

You're over thinking it!
Remove switches and door panel
It's 6 little bolts that hold the regulator in and 2 bolts that hold the glass to it.

Don't be intimidated by diagrams. The first two diagrams are mostly just for reference.
