i just got all the things i need to hook up my stereo system, but we're having a bit of trouble getting the stock deck out of the car. my friends already broke apart a piece of the dash, so they owe me a new dashboard haha:lol:

anyone have any ideas or know of anyway to get it out?
as we are trying to get the system hooked up before the weekend's over.

replies are greatly appreciated!

its pretty simple, there are screws bolted to a metal bracket that is bolted to the stock unit, you can access those bracket bolts by removing the grey panel underneath (where the cig lighter jack is). then unscrew the 4 on the bracket, then you can pull the whole thing out, then unscrew the unit from the bracket

i need help too!

woah that diagram just like...confused the hell outta me...but thanks...third guy because i'm about to switch out my stock deck....but....which one do you change? i have the tape deck below near the cup holders and the control panel in the center dash...it would be kinda weird to have the new deck at the bottom and a control panel in the center not being used...:???:

Or you can go down to the junk yard or honda and grab a replace pocket.

If you do it ahead of time and don't want to pull the whole thing apart again you can actually just pop the pocket in, it has clips to hold it in place

you can probably find a replacement pocket as mentioned above to remove the cup holder deck, then replace the control unit with your aftermarket unit, i forgot the 96-98 only has a single din at the ac control bezel;)

Uh Oh you need to clean those wires up

thats a short waiting to happen

Peeps love those dual subs. Way f**king loud for the price, not much sound quality but a decent starter system
