98 EX Coupe/ HeadUnit Options

6th Gen brethren. Can you all post pictures of your head units and give me some tips as to how go about getting a new headunit.

I have the stock on in there now along with that annoying tape deck at the bottom. Is there some sort of storage compartment I can get to replace that? I notice that the stock HU has rounded edges.. is there some aftermarket frame that you mount your new HU in? if so where do I aquire it. Thanks all.

I was thinking of something kenwood. I had one previously and it did me proud.

And the cup at the bottom where the stock CD player would go.

This might help as well. It's a headunit made by Alpine.. Model CDA-7897 , It's pretty much top of the line stuff.

I kinda did my setup vise virsa from Nofx's. I plan on putting a LCD monitor where my stock unit currently exists.

The storage piece you can get from Honda (or salvage if you want to pick though). And the framing you should be able to get from most car audio shops. Why don't you post some picks after you're done?

Hey Amy. My name is Danny and if you want to, you can refer to me as that. I live in Laurel, Maryland. It's pretty much right between D.C. and Baltimore located in Anne arundel county. Yea. I know what you mean by your headunit being up top for easier access. I got a remote with mine and I live with it. I've memorized the buttons so all I have to do is point and press. I'm really lazy. lol The headunit does retrack cause it's mechanical but does get in the way of the cup holder. I never really use mine so it's not a problem. If you want PM me sometime. Yea.. Most of the things I purchased for my car costed me a arm and a leg. Thats mainly why I have so little done to my ride. Everything I have is worth it tho. For example , my headunit by itself ran me $600. I was thinking about a PS2 as well ( same place you are thinking ) but I think I'm just gonna hold off on that idea. TV first.

Here is what I have. Got mine from crutchfield.

They give you the trim ring, so it's no problem. Anyone know how much the filler pocket costs for that lower compartment and what should I ask the dealer for? Any specific name for it?

I can stop by Honda tomorrow and see what the part number and price for the pocket are. (Yours is a 1996 right?) I only live less than five minutes from them and I need to see if a friend of mine has taillights, headlights, and a rear ashtray that I'm supposed to be getting soon. I get about a 40% discount through him though. Guess that what happens when all the guys think you're a "cutie" and you stop by Honda/Acura all the time.

I'm trying to get some of those too. First I need some headlights. Mine are damaged beyond repair. Too much fading throughout the housing. I just want some new CTR (must at least look similar to real!) or JDM Si-R headlights. They'll have to wait though. Broke as I am. My car will stay naked. Sorry, I really shouldn't take advantage of him like that. He's nice enough to be getting this stuff for me already. Try HAP though.
