:?:I recently aquired an automatic 99 civic ex coupe, and i have a couple Q's. First, the RPMs jump up and down from 1-2k while car is in nuetral. Can anyone tell me why and what I can do to fix it? Second, I'm considering a turbo but not sure if it's worth it. I can't afford a swap right now. Any advice or suggestions for optimum speed from D16Y8?

depends what kind of turbo you want to get, they range from $400 to $3000, a swap might cost you around $1500 perhaps??? what are your plans on your ride?

It's gonna be a daily driver, but I like speed. I looked at a swap to b16. It was 3k+, I'd like to stay under 1500. I was thinking turbo, header, exhaust, plugs and wires and couple other things. Hoping to get more ideas, product suggestions, and insight. Any help is appreciated.

What time frame are you looking at doing this? I want to do a B20vtec to replace my B16A2. Of course I want to keep the head off of it but I will be getting rid of the Block. Hoping to do the swap this winter.

A good turbo build is gonna run you at least 2k
And if your going to turbo the automatic its gonna cost more than that cause you need a race tranny rebuild and a tranny cooler. And even with those the honda auto trans is only good to like 180hp
Header exhaust and other stuff areent included in that 2k, plus if your going to boost it you need to over haul it and rebuild replace everything possible so it dosent have weak spots.

Ok, so I'm thinking if I want to do this right, it will probably be best to do a motor/trans build as I get the money and then do a swap. I'm not in any hurry. I have patience and a good imagination. What would be a good motor and manual transmission if I want to get the most bang for my buck? As I said, I like speed, but is a daily driver. Wouldn't mind having 300+ hp if reasonably doable.
