99 Civic front lca bolt

I have a 99 DX hatchback that i am having trouble advancing one of the lca bolts(smallest bolt) into the subframe, bolt number 16 in the picture. I had to replace the control arm and now that bolt will not advance more than about 3/4 of an inch. I tried a new bolt but that does not work either, so my thought is the thread in the hole is stripped. Has anyone dealt with this before? Would/Should i tap the hole with another m14 thread or maybe go a size bigger? Sub frame swap is out of the question as well, just can't afford to do that at this time.

try cleaning the thread with a same sized tap first, if it does not work then go one size bigger.

any idea what the pitch of the thread is off hand?

don't know exactly but most of them metric threads are 1.5, don't you have the bolt just see which tap is have the same pitch.
