Ok I just bought this 99 Civic Si. It has a chipped p28 in it. Ok my problem is...It had a header and full stainless catback exhaust. But I just got it to be a dd to drive to work every day and it was way to loud, so Wednesday I took it to the muffler shop and had just the big loud muffler cut off and had just a stock muffler back on it so it would be quieter. It did fine when I left there wed, then I drove to work thurs morning again no problems, then thursday afternoon on the way back from work (40 min drive) my check engine light came on. But it was still running fine and temp was fine and everything. So I had to make a stop in town turned car off and went in a store bout 10 mins came back and cranked car and the check engine light was not on any more, but came on bout 10 mins later. So When I cut the car off when I got home I waited bout 45 mins and cranked the car back up and drove it around for bout 30 mins and the light didnt come on. So friday I drove it to work again and it did fine and the light did not come on. Then when I got off work I had drove bout 30 mins and the check engine light came on. So when I got home the car sat about 40 mins then I had to get in it and go to my gf's house and the light was not on but I noticed it idling really funny when i would push in the clutch to stop it would idle down then jump up to about 1500 rpm's for about 30 secs. (check engine light is not on now) It does that the whole way to her house everytime i stop or push in the clutch but check engine light never came on. So I get to her house and I was there about 5 hrs. Ok I come outside and crank the car and it spits and sputters and wont hardly run and dies, so I crank it back up and give it some gas to get it running cause it wont idle now. Then I take off and head home and the check engine light never came on heading home but it is still idling at about 1500 rpms for about 30 secs then it will drop down. I dont know anything bout the p28 computer I just bought the car like that. Do you think it has anything to do with that stock muffler being put back on there? Or do I have other problems? Should I just put a stock computer back on it?
