HELP! HELP! HELP! Im a 22 year old, female college student with A/C issues. I own a 2000 Honda Civic EX and it seems to be that my compressor clutch is not spinning. I have no cold air, only hot. I took it to a shop where they wanted to charge me $2000 to replace the entire compressor. Ive been told I can replace just the a/c clutch and the unit will continue working. I want to save as much as I can, and avoid taking it to the shop if possible. HOW DO I KNOW IF ITS THE ENTIRE COMPRESSOR OR JUST THE CLUTCH???!!! As many details in your responding post as possible, so that I can understand it completely and troubleshoot it myself please! ;)

Did you check all the fuses ? then make sure you are getting power to the ac comp. no power means it wont engage. No pics required but appreciated

no AC in FL sucks... well, when the car is running, and the AC is on with the hood open, do you hear a click off and on?

Oh please, you know as well as I do that you are a hairy overweight old man. But even hairy overweight old men deserve some friendly help.

Never go back to that shop.

You first need to rule out simple stuff before concluding that compressor clutch is bad. But you need to answer some questions. When the A/C button is pushed with the blower running, does the condenser fan (driver's side) also fail to run?
