RonJ thanks for replying, sorry the post was all over the place but thats where my mind is at this point-
1. I just rebuilt the D16Y7. it has 9000 miles on it. Cylinders are .020 over sized. and I think my crank is .10/.10 if I remember right. Stock cam, injectors, and intake. I did put headers on it instead of the Cat Manifold. My B1S2 O2 sensor is hanging in the engine compartment because the connector pipe between the header and the rear portion of the system has the O2 bung right below the axle pointing up and the sensor hits the axle....bad design. So I have onr code for B1S2 Voltage high but otherwise it runs geat, just idles too low.
2. When I bought the car it had been wrecked and it sat in my back yard for 1-1/2 years while I saved money to replace the radiator support and rebuild the engine. The A/Csytem was open the entire time it sat. I thought I had plugged the lines but am unsure at this point. The compressor was bad also when I bought it. After i got it running I bought a remaned compressor that has been on there 3 months now and it does get cold inside, 41 degrees is the lowest temp i have regestered out of the vent with my multimeter. I have recharged it(after evacuating it, I have a RobinAir machine my neighbor gave me) because my receiver drier didnt have a sight glass and was the one that sat open forever so I was afraid that there may have been moisture in the sytem freezing the TXV causing the high and Low pressures. Mainly I just wanted to be clear the system is tight, no leaks. I have a 30 pound can of R134a that I used.
3. As previously stated the car was wrecked in the front so I replaced the condenser & fan assembly & receiver drier from Napa and the compressor had failed prior to my obtaining the car.
4. Each time I charged the system i put it on a vaccuum for 15 minutes and the charged through the low side with my manifold gauge set and my 30 pound can using the scale on my machine to weigh in the charge. By the way what do you know the correct charge to be for a 2000 DX Hatch? I have found 1.37 and 1.43 as the amounts.
5. Yes the condenser fan is running when the compressor comes on and it is pulling air through the condenser.
6. I am glad these systems are not junk because my wife loves her car and this is the only problem I'm having with it.
Last night I was talking to my Dad and when I mentioned the lines being open for so long he reminded my of these little pesky mud bees we have here in SoCal and he said maybe the built a nest inside and it is causing a restriction. Also I think that the compressor that failed prior to me owning the car Siezed. I have not replaced the TXV, could it have debris in it? I hope this added info helps and I didn't ramble. thanks for the help again!!!!
